Luxury Fashion For Less: Gucci

October 08, 2015
The Fall 2015 Gucci girl has a nonchalant attitude toward fashion and still gets all the attention! Gucci makes geek street fashion chic and possibly the most fun to mimic this season. The muted color palette and 70's inspired vibe is eclectic and easy-going. I posted about Zara's 'Gucci inspired' collection a while back - fast fashion stores are practically replicating the Gucci style and producing trendy, inexpensive items. Pictured here are apparel and accessories from Mango and Zara.

Milan Fashion Week: Gucci

February 25, 2015

Newly appointed creative director at Gucci, Alessandro Michele, is showcasing his own vision, far from past collections and giving us a new, contemporary "Gucci girl".

Not what you would expect on a Gucci runway - These garments look like something out of a vintage store or your grandma's attic. Mind you it was intriguing and carried us to a time and place where 70's inspired geek street fashion is chic. Some of the pieces really threw me off, but styling aside and minus the fur-muppet slides, the floral patterns, retro textiles and the easy-going vibe is refreshing. I know - vintage is refreshing? The nonchalant fashion attitude, random dressing, minimal makeup and messy hair makes me feel like we don't have to try so hard - fashion is about expression, so throw on whatever you feel like and wear it like it's 1975!

New York Fashion Week: Rag & Bone

February 17, 2015

The Rag & Bone fashion show was just what you would expect from the brand. This season was a compilation of many previous designs - off-beat street fashion with a hip-hop influence. The collection sure was shiny - lurex and nylon skirts, as well as shiny vinyl coats. The 90's inspired collection showcased puffer jackets and bright colors. The knee length skirts atop tailored pants were my favorite combination amongst the many layers in each look. The shiny long camisoles over long sleeve t-shirts was intriguing - this collection was about long over long, layers, mismatched colors and innovative fabrics.

Adidas x Kanye West Fashion Show

February 13, 2015

Yesterday, models walked onto the runway and stood in rows while Kanye West made his Adidas x Kanye West presentation. My first thought - ballerina meets Game of Thrones meets great camping garments! I guess the head-to-toe leotards, knee high socks and bunched boots kinda threw me off at first, but all that aside, each garment displayed atop the leo's screamed Kanye West and his personal style. I like West's style and I loved the show - I might even buy my first Adidas garment in the fall.. There were fifty looks that showcased the men in layers of clothes, slouchy pants, oversized sweaters and nice selection of coats. The women's looks consisted of oversized garments atop sports bras, body suits and leotards - the looks were casual (kinda frumpy), but cool and modern. Day one of New York fashion week fall/winter 2015 and the Adidas x Kanye West "off-beat street fashion" show has already made a big impression.
