..Toodles 2018

December 30, 2018

..TOODLES 2018. It was a rough one emotionally, but my beauty exploration and fashion addiction survived the madness and remained strong and exciting! I'm heading into 2019 with a new attitude towards health and beauty. My shoe and handbag addiction will probably continue to be ridiculous (by some standards), but 2018 has taught me to make changes, embrace new brands and get creative with my style and makeup.

My biggest obsession is sunglasses. I purchased too many Chloé sunglasses this year! MIU MIU sunnies recently took over my looks, but Chloé reigns supreme on my sunnies shelf.

I just snagged these MIU MIU star embossed sunglasses and Swarovski crystal embellished sunglasses and glasses chain at Holt Renfrew in Toronto. LOVE! I'll be seeing stars in 2019!

My personal style remains the same - chic joggers and sock-style boots with printed t-shirts and sweatshirts. My favorite clothing brands are 3.1 Phillip Lim, Fenty X Puma, Tularosa, GRLFRND, Mother, Spell & The Gypsy Collective, For Love & Lemons, Monrow sweatpants , Karl Lagerfeld and Fiorucci (t-shirts and sweatshirts) and Nation LTD (to name a few).

My infatuation with designer shoes and handbags remains expensive! Louis Vuitton handbags are still taking over my collection. I finally found myself an LV sales representative in New York and she's fabulous. Some LV bags are impossible to get (unless you have a rep). She snagged me a Summer Trunk tote and Time Trunk Alma handbag as soon as they hit the sales floor. She's my handbag fairy!

After a five year hiatus, Gucci has made a comeback in my collection. My husband tracked down a Gucci bag I had been coveting for months and gave it to me for our 10 year anniversary. Best gift a girl could get! AND, of course, I'm still a Chloé girl and LOVE Chloé handbags.

I LOVE BOOTS! I'm still rocking Fendi Rockoko and Yeezy sock-style boots. I purchased too many Adidas sneakers in 2018, got some Chloé boots and a new pair of Fendi fur slides (possibly the best purchase of 2018). I'm looking forward to summer, so I can strut around in my mew Fendi slides.

Another year gone and while I spent most of my time shopping and exploring new beauty products, my go-to brands remain the same. For anti-aging, Neocutis is my favorite. I got a mini fridge for Christmas and am keeping my Neocutis products in there. Applying cold eye and face creams is new to me and I love it! AND, I still love Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Hydrating Face Cream (great for calming rosacea) and Extra Eye Repair Cream.

My favorite make-up brands list has changed a little. Benefit Cosmetics, Too Faced, Dior and beautyblender reign supreme in my Cosmocube. Oh and there's a few KKW Beauty products in there too - love the brushes. My long-time favorites, Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier are still taking up some real estate in the cube.

I still get IPL (Intense Pulsed Light Treatment) and Clear + Brilliant laser Treatment. These two combined leave my skin looking fresh, vibrant and reduce the appearance of my rosacea. They are painful and expensive, but worth it. I'm also still doing botox. I've had a few botched jobs and am a little turned off, but I think it's about finding the right dermatologist..

My hair is finally back to normal. I suffered from botched hair for two years and it was a struggle. The silver lining is that I tried too many hair care products and shared my thoughts on b.a.gorgie.com. I hope my product reviews helped a few of you. Surprisingly, I introduced a new shampoo and conditioner to the routine in 2018. My long-time favorite Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil shampoo and conditioner still have a permanent spot in the shower, but now I'm alternating with Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance shampoo and No. 5 Bond Maintenance conditioner. This stuff is amazing!

I tried Coolsculpting and got "minimal results". Highly disappointing. After waiting four months for maximum results and feeling like I spent too much money and wasted my time, I decided to start working out (there are no shortcuts). I also changed my eating habits. I'm eating healthier and smaller portions. I'm proud to say, I've lost 14 lbs. YUP! It was a slow process (took an entire year)! I have another 6 lbs to go and am hoping to get a MIRROR Home Gym in the 2019. HINT HINT.. I'm also considering the new fat reducing procedure Vanquish. I'll let ya know how it goes.

My favorite body wash and creams are Sol de Janeiro and Aveeno (for those sensitive days). The caramel-pistachio scent of Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum body cream, Brazilian Crush body mist and Brazilian 4 Play moisturizing shower cream-gel are delicious! This cosmetic brand has made a few appearances on the blog and still reigns supreme.

That's my favorite cosmetics, procedures, fashion brands and style diary for 2018. I'm still a cosmetic junkie and am obsessed with shoes and handbags. I have a few trips in 2019 and am already planning my outfits..

My Must-Haves

March 12, 2018

The gorgeous and unique selection of handbags by my favorite designers this season is gonna bankrupt me. I'm addicted to handbags (seriously). I'd give up a whole lot of luxuries to purchase a few new handbags each season. Twice a year, I go through my closet and choose handbags and shoes that I don't LOVE anymore and list them on eBay - this is a great way to make some extra money, so I can afford my hangdbag addiction. I have so many amazing handbags, but the sensation of buying something new, limited edition and on-trend gives me too much pleasure.

The Chloé Roy double clutch handbag (available at Chloé) was my first handbag obsession this season. The detachable clutches are linked with pale gold-tone rings. You can wear these clutches separately, BUT I'm not sure why you would - that's not exciting. The double clutch design has a top handle and shoulder strap. The shoulder strap is detachable and Chloé will release new colors throughout the season. I love the contrast of the blue strap against the olive green and beige leather clutches, but it's not available yet. YES, I purchased this bag in New York a few weeks ago. This unique design is a must-have Chloé handbag(s).

I'm also addicted to sunglasses. Especially, Chloé sunglasses. These Chloé gold-tone sunglasses (available at Intermix) have a horn brow bridge and earpiece. This design is smaller than the typical Chloé sunglass style and I do love oversized sunglasses, BUT the horn detail is a delicate touch to the otherwise masculine aviator style.

I'm in to socks these days. Socks that run a little higher than my sock-style boots and socks that would look great inside pumps or sandals. Of course, if you don a sock with high-heeled sandals, it's got to be light and feminine. These Emilio Cavallini metallic striped diamond net socks (available at Intermix) are perfect.

I have a wedding in May and plan to wear these socks with my Azure Aniline (baby blue), suede Nudistrong Stuart Weitzman sandals. If you follow my blog and personal style, you know I LOVE sock-style boots. These Emilio Cavallini varsity stripe ankle socks (available at Intermix) slightly show the white and black stripe beneath my boots and adds a little sporty-chic vibe. Pair this look with joggers and an oversized sweatshirt.

The Kendall + Kylie Alana bootie (available at Revolve) is special. These shear, suede and mesh boots would look great with dresses and even joggers (yeah, I have a sweatpants obsession too). I'm not sure how I feel about showcasing my toes in a shear shoe (that can get ugly real fast), but they're gorgeous nevertheless.

Fendi to me is the Porsche of handbags. Most seasons (not all of them), I watch the show, screen shot looks and wait patiently for the handbags to hit the Fendi boutiques. AND the strap you collection is amazing! The embellished straps attach to most Fendi bags - I love this!

The contrast of this light brown and green palm tree-like Fendi strap (available at Fendi) against this feminine floral embellished, multi-color Fendi runway shopper (available at Fendi) is perfection. Yeah, I paired the two - they don't belong together, but look amazing holding hands. The muted flower print mesh of the shopper and jungle-esque vibe of the strap says Spring is here, nature is beautiful and I look good carrying this unique fusion of Fendi accessories. May the fashion gods shine down (or my husband) and bless me with this Fendi runway shopper and exotic strap.

The Shopper

October 30, 2017

I'm not the kinda girl that lugs around everything but the kitchen sink. SO, totes are not my thing. BUT I need a large tote for travel. As hard as I try, I'm never gonna fit all my stuff in a carry-on suitcase for a weekend getaway. A shopper is big enough to carry liquids, small handbags and maybe a pair of shoes on my shoulder. It's gotta be large enough to hold all my stuff, but still fit within the 'one personal item' category. Is it just me or are airline size restrictions getting smaller and smaller?

You may be asking what's the difference between a tote and a shopper. Honesty, I have no idea. I would like to say a shopper is larger (in most cases it is), BUT handbag styles are blurred these days - there are small totes, and huge clutches.. There's also shopper totes.

I feel like the brand Off-White is having a moment. Admittedly, I'm a little obsessed. This Off-White leather tote (available at mytheresa.com) isn't being enough for my travel needs, but I could find a reason to carry it!

This Prada shearling shopper (available at mytheresa.com) is everything I love - furry, pink, and dons fluffy pompoms. AND it's big enough to hold my weekend getaway bags and shoes. This furry shopper is kinda loud, but who cares. Over-the-top handbags add a little something to an otherwise muted wardrobe. This shearling shopper is also available in yellow and brown hues, with orange pompoms.

This Dolce & Gabbana Beatrice fur shopper (available at mytheresa.com) is not my personal style (not a fan of black), but it's huge and perfect for those "I got a lot of s**t to lug around' days. The other side says LVE in white and red.

Yes, I'm crushing on Prada handbags these days.. I mentioned this Prada fur shopper (available at mytheresa.com) a few weeks ago. It's available in rose with red pompoms and white with blue and green pompoms. This shopper is huge and isn't structured, so you can stuff a lot of everything here.

These shopper styles may be al little out of your budget (mine too), but they're inspiring and a girl can dream..

Adidas x Kanye West Fashion Show

February 13, 2015

Yesterday, models walked onto the runway and stood in rows while Kanye West made his Adidas x Kanye West presentation. My first thought - ballerina meets Game of Thrones meets great camping garments! I guess the head-to-toe leotards, knee high socks and bunched boots kinda threw me off at first, but all that aside, each garment displayed atop the leo's screamed Kanye West and his personal style. I like West's style and I loved the show - I might even buy my first Adidas garment in the fall.. There were fifty looks that showcased the men in layers of clothes, slouchy pants, oversized sweaters and nice selection of coats. The women's looks consisted of oversized garments atop sports bras, body suits and leotards - the looks were casual (kinda frumpy), but cool and modern. Day one of New York fashion week fall/winter 2015 and the Adidas x Kanye West "off-beat street fashion" show has already made a big impression.

Alexa Chung for AG

January 15, 2015

The much anticipated collection by Alexa Chung for Adriano Goldschmied is now available on-line at NET-A-PORTER, Matchesfashion and Mytheresa. The 20 piece collection will be available in stores on January 20th. British model and fashion icon Alexa Chung has collaborated with denim brand AG to create a casual collection with a 60's vibe of denim jeans (of course), short dresses, overalls and a mini skirt, as well as sweaters and t-shirts. Alexa Chung has a unique personal style coveted by many, including myself! I've been checking on-line daily for additional items to become available (it's selling out faster than I search). I have to have the denim shirtdress and denim skirt overall.. wish me luck.

The collection will be available at Adriano Goldschmied, Anthropologie, major department stores; Bloomingdales, SAKS, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. It will also be available on-line at Revolve, Stylebop, Mytheresa and Avenue 32.

Fashions Finest On-Line Shopping

October 12, 2014

I'm an avid on-line shopper! I make 85% of my fashion and cosmetics purchases on-line, rather than visiting malls or shopping street side stores. Shopping on-line is superior to in-store shopping mostly due to the vast selection and ability to search for items unavailable in your area.

On-line apparel and accessory sites like Shopbop and NET-A-PORTER publish lookbooks that showcase items from various designers/labels together - it's like having a personal stylist. The photos provided for each item allow you to see how the garments fit and which items to pair it with. Clothes look better on a model than on a hanger.. I luv lookbooks! Magazines are also a great media for inspiration and list every item, so you can search the internet and purchase anything that is published. Harpers Bazaar magazine has launched an on-line shopping site that allows readers to browse and purchase many of the items in the magazine. My fashion inspiration often comes from magazines and lookbooks.

My morning ritual consists of coffee and browsing on-line shopping sites. First on my list is Shopbop. This site carries many of my favorite designers/labels and posts new items each day. Shopbop stylists have great taste and showcase different brands together well. There is a section under each item "wear it with" that allows you to recreate the outfit pictured. Shopbop also publishes great lookbooks daily. They currently have 862 brands (I counted), such as Alice + Olivia, Phillip Lim, Elizabeth and James, as well as premiere designer names like Saint Laurent and Marchesa. Shopbop has a vast selection to suit everyones personal style. Shopbop has free shipping and returns. Included in your package you will find a prepaid return label that ensures a free return if you send the item back within seven days of receiving it. This allows you enough time to try on your items and decide whether you will keep them.

I recently discovered NET-A-PORTER and quickly became obsessed with browsing the new arrivals, the magazine's page, and the stylish combinations of apparel and accessories showcased listed under "how to wear it". Each item has photos from many angles, up close so you can see the material and full body shots. What sets NET-A-PORTER apart are the videos posted next to each item showcasing the look. NET-A-PORTER has brands I haven't seen on another on-line shopping site, like Kate Moss for Topshop, and high brands such as Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and Proenza Schouler. If anything, this site will inspire you!

For premiere designer items my go-to on-line shopping site is Shop Bazaar. If I had to sum up this site in one word - trendy! There are currently 330 brands including Burberry Prorsum, Dolce & Gabbana, Emilio Pucci, The Row... It's designer apparel and accessories heaven! There is a "In the Magazine" page featuring items from the latest edition, as well as a "Trends" page for current fashion inspiration.
