The Bucket Bag

March 30, 2018

The functional bucket bag style handbag is having an extended fashion moment these last few seasons. This style has been around a long time, but as of late, is making a big comeback and gracing the arms of models and celebrities. The bucket bag is roomy and depending on the size can carry lots of day-to-night essentials. This style comes in all sizes - XS to XL. The larger styles are perfect for carrying all your airplane essentials. Here's a short list of bucket bag styles for inspiration.

The Roxy denim cage mini bucket bag by Alexander Wang (available at Farfetch) is cute but edgy. The cage is bleached denim, as well as the denim bike chain style attachment that goes over the round top handles for closure.

Mansur Gabriel is often credited for bringing back the bucket bag (this time). The light pink shade of this leather Mansur Gabriel bucket bag (available at Mytheresa) is perfect for Spring/Summer. This bucket bag is small-medium size, has an adjustable strap and leather drawstring. It's simple, functional and chic.

Jil Sander was one of my first designer obsessions. True to the brand, the esthetic remains simple and chic. This Jil Sander white leather bucket tote (available at Farfetch) is medium-sized and can hold lots of stuff. The structured bag has small top handles and inside pockets. LOVE!

I often peruse the Louis Vuitton Vintage selection on Farfetch. I can't afford anything, but a girl can dream. The Louis Vuitton Vintage fringed bucket tote is festival-chic. The small bucket bag is structured and dons the iconic Lous Vuitton print under the multicolored fringe with beads. Are you sitting down? You should - this vintage bag (so, it is preowned) costs $8,948!

The camel shade of this leather bucket bag by Mansur Gabriel (available at Mytheresa) is classic. The vegetable-tanned leather is gorgeous and the interior is the same light pink shade as the light pink style. Mansur Gabriel bags are simple but timeless.

This MIU MIU leather bucket bag (available at NET-A-PORTER) is rectangular shaped, with waved edges. The white leather is hand painted and although MIU MIU styles usually don jewels and embellishment, this classic bag only has a little polished silver hardware - 'MIU MIU'. This bucket bag has no closure and a matching zipped pouch inside.

Luxury Fashion For Less: Burberry Prorsum

October 06, 2015

The Burberry Prorsum Fall 2015 collection, 'Patchwork, Pattern and Prints' showcased 70's inspired chic bohemian style. Floral and fringe dominated the runway and each look was as inspiring as the last. The suede fringe cape was my favorite. The elderberry colored cape retails for €7,250! You can buy a similar style at Mango in cognac for €99,99! This neutral color would look great paired with dark denim and bordeaux over-the-knee boots.

The Burberry Prorsum show always introduces a new style of handbag featured in that seasons favorite colors and embellishments. The Fall 2015 collection showcased the 'Bucket Bag' in two sizes, prints, suede and of course fringed. Pictured here is a dark green fringed suede bag by Mango. Bucket shaped, jewel tone and fringed - embodies everything necessary to pull off a Burberry Prorsum inspired look.

London Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum

February 23, 2015

Christopher Bailey is undoubtedly my favorite designer and the Burberry Prorsum show is my most anticipated throughout fashion month. This 70's inspired collection was titled Patchwork, Pattern and Prints - I couldn't have said it better.

The bohemian looks were comprised of paisley and floral prints in blue, red, olive green and gray. Patchwork and fringe were the dominant features in this collection. Capes, ponchos, booties and the bucket bag showcased heavy fringe in jewel tones and classic dark tan. The patchwork fringed poncho will definitely be the "it" piece this fall (as was the monogrammed Prorsum poncho from fall 2014). Paired with over the knee suede patchwork boots, bed-head hair and round sunglasses - the epitome of 70's chic. The navy shearling cape is gorgeous and timeless (my favorite piece). And I'm coveting the patchwork fringe booties. This collection is alluring, nostalgic and inspiring.
