Obsessed With Dior 2021

February 09, 2021

Every season, I tend to obsess over one single designer. Sometimes, I'll stick with a brand for many seasons - BUT, eventually something on the runway tempts me to see beyond my current go-to brand and I move on.

I have been obsessed with Dior for many seasons now. I received my first Dior book tote just over a year ago and have been stocking the Dior site ever since. This season in particular - I want everything!

I was crunching on the black mesh book tote last season, but I didn't need another large tote and I'm not a huge fan of black. Fast forward to the next season - I was so excited to see the mesh style in a smaller version AND the perfect clay color. I've always been a fan of "see through" handbags. I don't carry a lot of things, so it's easy for me to keep it organized (of the utmost importance).

I pair my clay-colored mesh embroidery Dior book tote with the Rose Des Vents DiorTravel vanity case. It matches the mesh tote perfectly. There's also a mini version of the vanity case - It's SO cute. Donning vanity cases as handbags is a trend now.

I LOVE this seasons D-Trap boots. I have the shorter boot style from last summer, so although these are higher, I can't justify another pair. The color is however different - SO, maybe! These mesh style boots are perfect for summer.

The Dior D-Trap sandals are amazing - I can justify buying these! Paired with long skirts and dresses, these gladiator-style sandals will give your look a chic Mediterranean vibe. I tried these mesh sandals on at the Dior boutique and they run BIG. I'd recommend going one to two sizes smaller then your usual size.

I can never have enough Dior J'Adior bracelet sets. This clay-colored and cream set is neutral and blends perfectly with my Dior Cruise 2021 selections. I have a few J'Adior bracelet sets and love to mix-and-match them. Paired with other styles, bracelet stacking is my go-to accessory style.

I'm OBSESSED with this Dior multicolor Couer En Fleurs embroidery small Dior book tote. It's even prettier in person. I like that the back is basic cream with the Dior band and there is Christian Dior printed along the top handle. I know this tote is gonna be my fav handbag of the season. Bummer - it's a Valentine's Day gift and I can't open it for another week.

Oxfam Gifts

December 07, 2020

Repost from last year - The best gift you can give this holiday season is an Oxfam gift. Oxfam is a nonprofit organization that funds projects worldwide in an effort to end injustice of poverty.

The gifts you purchase for friends, family and colleagues is an actual donation. Oxfam will apply those funds where it is needed and the person you've purchased the gift for will receive a vibrant card. Your gift will bring attention to this worthy cause, put a smile on someones face and benefit those who are less fortunate.

This innovative, charitable concept is brilliant. I would love to receive a card with a cute, baby chick that says, "I Bought A Dozen Chicks For You". A donation made in my honor is the best present.

Oxfam gifts has an extensive catalog of charitable gifts that you can choose from. There are animal, sustainable, water, women and children, education, making a living and emergency necessities gifts. The gifts range from $18 to a $2500 investment in a small business.

When you choose your gift you have the option to print your own card (download a PDF), eCard (sent via email) or no card. The picture above shows how the printed card will appear. I like to email the cards. The thoughtful designs are well done, colorful and informative.

The eCard reads, "Hello (insert name). You received an Oxfam gift from (insert name)". As the receiver scrolls through the card the gift is stated and a brief summary about Oxfam Gifts appears. The receiver then has the option to browse other gifts or share the gift they received.

If you receive an Oxfam Gift this holiday season, please share. Most of my friends live in other cities, and yes, you'll be getting an Oxfam Gift this year..

My Must-Haves

August 05, 2020

I haven't posted a Must-Haves list in months. Why bother purchasing clothes and accessories if you're stuck at home?! Seems like other countries are getting back to normal, travel has resumed and my favorite bloggers are posting new fashion. I'm a little jealous and eager to purchase something extravagant.

I am obsessed with these Louis Vuitton Archlight sneakers (available at LV). I've seen them on Instagram and they photograph nicely. The curvy shape and oversized, bouncy sole give these unique sneakers a modern, feminine vibe. I'd prefer all white, but would be happy with the patent monogram canvas style pictured here.

I've been lusting over Dior bags for months. I'm trying to decide which style I would purchase for Fall - It's a late 40th birthday gift from the husbano. I had my heart set on the white, camouflage saddle bag, but as new styles drop, I'm leaning towards a small book tote.

This blue, multicolor Dior Around the World book tote (available at Dior) is perfect for Fall. I don't have a blue handbag, so this would be a nice addition to my mostly pink collection.

I'm not a fan of Tory Burch - It just doesn't occur to me to shop the label. BUT, I just have-to-have this Tory Burch printed shirt dress (available at MyTheresa). The green batik-inspired print is perfect for Fall. A must-have!

I would pair the Tory Burch shirt dress with these Stella McCartney Elyse Derby platforms (available at MyTheresa). This signature shoe is made of faux leather, has a multi-layer platform and dons the brand name along the midsole. I love these shades of beige - This seasons hue and my go-to colors.

I know it seems a bit early to be shopping for cold weather, but when I saw this Jacquemus puffer jacket on the runway - I had-to-have it. I'm just waiting for it to become available for purchase. I LOVE the hue and the puffer style is perfect for casual wear.

Jacquemus is one of my favorite designer brands. I want everything Jacquemus. This La Maille Cavou wool-blend sweater (available at MyTheresa) would pair nicely with high-waisted pants. The chunky sweater has an in-side out construction and cropped silhouette. LOVE!

DC Protests - June 5th

June 07, 2020

These are photos from the protests in front of the White House and St. John's church on Friday, June 5th. These peaceful demonstrations set the tone for the following weekend..

People from all over have come together to demand change in policies that allow racism and police brutality. Black Lives Matter, Say Their Names - George Floyd and Breonna Taylor and I Can't Breathe are the prominent phrases being chanted throughout the city.

The St. John's church is located across from the White House and has become a significant background for protesters in Washington, DC.

This location was chaos less than a week ago - it was a terrifying demonstration. BUT, today protestors have filled the area and are peacefully expressing themselves.

It's wonderful to see parents and their children joining the peaceful demonstrations. It is important that we educate our children - they are the future.

A vast majority of the people gathered in Washington, DC are young women and men. Their conviction and energy is astonishing. Young folks all around the world are marching the streets, speaking up and demanding change.

Donations are gathered for every demonstration and handed out to protestors marching the streets of DC. At the final destination, the White House, there is water and snacks being offered to everyone. The food and beverage aspect is organized and incredibly thoughtful, not only those who donate, but the volunteers serving the community. Thank you.

You can also purchase Black Lives Matter and I Can't Breathe merchandise in front of St. John's church. As I mentioned in my last post regarding the DC protests, I purchased a t-shirt and protective face mask. These items are very important to me and will remind me that I was a part of this remarkable movement.

There is a bright yellow Black Lives Matter mural painted along 16th street, courtesy of Mayor Bowser. It was painted on Friday morning, Breonna Taylor's 27th birthday. Thank you Mayor Bowser. I'm not the only DC resident that is impressed with how you've handled these past few weeks.

It started out as a horrific attack on the city by criminals masquerading as protestors, but the vibe has changed dramatically. This past week, the peaceful demonstrators have shut down the rebels.

There are multiple organized demonstrations everyday of the week in DC. Folks are peacefully reminding us that we need to educate ourselves, speak up and demand change. It is absolutely amazing to see our young generation work tirelessly to challenge the system.

The police presence in Washington, DC has also changed dramatically. Just last weekend, it seemed like there were more police and National Guard that protestors. Now, they have taken to the side streets. There are no longer police behind the White House fence and in my opinion, you can barely feel their presence.

Albeit, the helicopters haven't stopped circling over the city. I've had many sleepless nights - initially due to the looting and thereafter due to the constant whirring of helicopters. I understand the need, but can't wait for it to end.

My Must-Haves

May 18, 2020

I was curating the perfect collection of clothes and accessories for a trip to Paris and Amsterdam in June. THAT'S NOT HAPPENING ANYMORE! I guess I'll have to model the 20+ looks in the house. Here's a few of the stand-out pieces in my "cancelled trip to Europe" suitcase.

I had to move mountains to get these Dior D-Trap ankle boots (available at Dior). These fishnet cutout boots were a key piece on the runway. The reinvented combat boot has a leather flap with double buckles and a few signature Dior features - the bee, gold Christian Dior logo and black star on the sole. These boots would have turned heads in Paris - maybe next year..

I'm a HUGE fan of Moschino t-shirts. They're high quality and make a statement. I was planning to pair this Moschino BULLCHIC! t-shirt (available at Farfetch) with a Tibi turquoise jacquard midi skirt and the Dior D-Trap boots. It would have been my Carrie Bradshaw in Paris moment. No worries - this t-shirt will not go to waste.

My sunglasses collection is overflowing, BUT I managed to fit one more pair in there. These DiorCamp aviator sunglasses (available at Farfetch) were made for me. The straight pink arms don the CD logo and the slightly tinted pink lens adds sofiticaticon. LOVE!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to snag this Christian Dior Book Tote (available at Dior). It is gorgeous. The Toile de Jouy embroidered pattern was inspired by Mr. Dior's muse. I love the complexity of the pattern, along with the grey shades and Christian Dior signature on the front.

The Dior book tote is timeless and while it is reinvented each season, the old ones never go out of style. Interesting fact - you can collapse these totes and pack them nicely in your suitcase.

The iconic Moschino teddy bear has a three dimensional effect and a playful vibe. The teddy bear makes an appearance each season and is super cute. I like that this one is bursting through a piece of art. From a fashion obsessed state of mind - this Moschino teddy bear t-shirt (available at Farfetch) is a piece of art.

I have a very basic hairstyle - a slightly slanted bob, colored black. It's chic, but you can't do much with it. Albeit, hair clips do add a little flare. I purchased this Off-White two-toned hair clip (available at Revolve) to hold my tiny strands together and add a little contrast. The white and black clip holds my thin hair nicely and looks great against my black hair.

A Lip Scrub & Facial Massage

February 26, 2020

I'm always on the prowl for a new lip treatment, especially one that boasts plumping qualities. The Nurse Jamie NuLips RX duo isn't a lip plumping regiment, but does promote healthy, nourished lips; which will make your pout appear fuller.

Oh and the all natural lip balm contains the famed Hyaluronic Acid - don't get caught up in the Hyaluronic hype. Everything contains this "magical" ingredient. The balm does however contain beneficial oils - this is essential in a nourishing lip balm.

I really like the Nurse Jamie Anti-Microbial Silicone Lip Brush. It's soft and induces circulation in your lips. It's not brittle enough to remove dry skin - you're gonna need a proper exfoliator for that. Albeit, the soft bristles will give you a gentle lip massage.

The lip-shaped, silicone lip brush has a handle for easy use, that also has a suction cup - In case you wanna stick it to the lip balm pot, your mirror or fridge?!

This lip balm and lip brush duo is relatively small and great for travel. My entire body dries out on planes and in hotels, so I tend to overdose on lip balm.

The Nurse Jamie NuLips RX Balm is all natural, petroleum free and contains beneficial oils to promote healthy, soft lips - Beeswax, Shea Butter and Almond Oil - to name a few.

The balm has a thick, wax-like appearance and feel. The NuLips balm reacts to the heat from your lips and swiftly melts into an oily texture. The scent is sweet and light. My only complaint is the pot. I prefer lip products in a tube, so I don't have to dip my fingers in the product.

Is this a must-have duo? Umm.. No. There are better exfoliating lip treatments and this one is too gentle for me. I highly suggest using your toothbrush to exfoliate your lips. That being said, this NuLips balm will not go to waste and the gentle anti-microbial silicone lip brush has earned a spot in my travel cosmetic bag.

While perusing the Nurse Jamie line-up, I decided to give the NuVibe RX Amethyst Massaging Beauty Tool a try. I'm seeing a lot of facial massage devices on Instagram and being a beginner, I went with the first tool to pop up on my screen. I should know better!

This facial massaging tool utilizes gentle (emphasis on the gentle) sonic vibration to promote good circulation. Essentially, this is what most facial massage tools promote - circulation, anti-bloat and an overall youthful appearance. The tool heads are usually a stone or metal. This Nurse Jamie beauty tool has a slim design and an Amethyst stone - my birth stone.

At first, I loved this tool. I used it morning and night for a week and although I didn't see a major change in my skin, I enjoyed the gentle massage. I would have given this beauty tool a good grade, but then I found a better facial massager.

I was pursuing the Goop site and purchased the Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar..

This 24kt gold sculpting bar is a game changer! I use this beauty tool twice a day for about 8 minutes. I start with my cheeks, massage my nose, between the brows, upwards along my chin and then my neck. Always massage upwards and outwards.

It's super relaxing and I've noticed a HUGE change in my skin. Especially when my face is a little bloated (too much wine and salt). This facial massager de-bloats and really does give you a more youthful appearance.

Aside from Rosacea, I have clear skin and as long as my Rosacea doesn't flare-up, I don't even need foundation. BUT, this 24kt gold beauty tool has taken my skin to a new level of looking refreshed. This tool has a permanent spot in my beauty routine.

To compare the two - The design of the Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar is more suitable for massaging the face and neck. The bar glides along your skin with ease and allows you to cover a larger area when you massage upwards and outwards. The Nurse Jamie NuVibe Rx Amethyst stone is clearly a different shape and roughly the same size in diameter, but doesn't have the same effect as the gold bar. Contrary to what people say - shape and size do matter!

Vibration strength is super important and the Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar wins this category by a landslide. The gold sculpting bar gives you an intense vibrating facial massage, while the NuVibe pales in comparison.

The Jillian Dempsey tool is slightly heavier and has a sleek design. The bar remains cold longer then the Amethyst stone and is more comfortable when massaging your neck and chin. It is however more expensive, BUT appears to be of better quality. The Nurse Jamie NuVibe Rx retails for $95 and the Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar retails for $195. Trust me, the extra $100 is worth it!

Brand Obsession - Jacquemus

February 10, 2020

I am obsessed with this French, ready-to-wear label - Jacquemus. While this brand has been around a decade, it was Le Chiquito mini bag that caught my attention a few years ago. I wanted the tiny bag, but was unable to procure it. I abandoned the mission and only recently came back to the beloved Jacquemus brand.

The Jacquemus Fall/Winter 2020 show was chic and modern. The muted shades are minimal and the silhouettes accentuate your assets. This collection is not for the body conscious kind. While this is a Fall/Winter collection, the muted shades and barely there styles are more suited for a resort or Summer collection.

Pictured here is the famous Le Chiquito mini bag. I kinda still want one, but the limited space is an issue for me. This mini bag dons the signature gold-toned Jacquemus logo and contrast stitching details. I LOVE this impractical little handbag.

The Jacquemus linen-blend mini halter dress is one of a few dresses I love from this collection. The neutral shade is calming and the draped detailing is faltering. This style is sexy-chic.

I am a self-proclaimed sunglasses junkie! These Jacquemus Les Carrees sunglasses are a unique addition to my vast collection. The oversized square silhouette and transparent detail has a modern vibe. there are two sunglasses with this boxy silhouette - the other has a linen trim detail.

Les Valerie Hautes sandals are gorgeous. the contrast sticking and linen is coherent with the collection. The square toe is on-trend and the geometric heel is anything but boring. Unfortunately, the smallest size is a 6 and I'm a 5.5 sandal.

Another unfortunate moment for me is how much I'm obsessed with the knit bra and cropped sweater look - Imma have to starve myself for a week to don this sexy style. Maybe I could get away with Spanx and a high-waisted skirt?! This cropped cardigan is a Alzou Mohair-blend and was presented over a Valensole knit beta top. Both are available in neutral, white and grey. LOVE!

The Abi cutout ribbed-knit jersey leggings are unique and would pair nicely with the Les Valerie Hautes sandals. Lace-up sandals are on trend and the cutout hem on these leggings allows for the laces to be showcased. This is a must-have modern style.

I was fortunate to snag a few Jacquemus items from the Moda Operandi trunk show. I started the shopping spree with ten items in my cart, but narrowed the lot down to a velvet cropped sweater, leggings (pictured here), oversized sunglasses and a puffer jacket. My Jacquemus purchase is due to arrive between June 30th and October 15th - I'm so excited!

The Trendy Table

September 12, 2019

I just bought my first home and am cheating on fashion for furniture and decor. I'm having so much fun decorating and and recently added a lifestyle section to the blog, so I can share my home style.

I was beyond excited to host a few special folks (Erin and Bob) a few weeks ago and wanted my table setting to be modern and memorable. I had a blast shopping for table decor. AND, I'm confident that I created a trendy table that represents me as a host. I got a few compliments!

I realize my oversized, Game of Thrones table is not trendy, but I lost the battle on that one. All I can do is jazz it up and make it my own..

I already had classic-white Le Creuset plates, so I decided to go with a black, white and gold theme. My inspiration came from hours of perusing the internet and the perfect set of brushed gold and resin flatware from CB2 - we'll come back to flatware..

I approached this project like I would a fashion shoot. The theme, vibe and color scheme must be cohesive AND I can't afford five different table settings (I spend too much money on shoes and bags), so the theme of my trendy table setting has to be suitable for many occasions. A neutral color palette, with a little gold is perfect.

I recently started a subscription at Dry Farm Wines. It's an online health-focused wine club. Each month I receive six natural wines curated from family farms. There is a long list of benefits, but most importantly, these wines have lower sulfites (< 75 ppm) and lower alcohol (< 12.5%).

Some of the wine bottles are intriguing. Pictured above is a white wine in a green wine bottle with a beer cap. It resembles a giant beer bottle and adds a little interest. The details of Dry Farm Wines is also a great dinner conversation.

I also opted for unique pieces, like this handcrafted and painted mango wood bowl from CB2. The suggested use is for bread or napkins, but I like to use this as a salad bowl (dry salad of course).

These oversized salad serving utensils from IKEA are nice, but basic. I'm still looking for the perfect set - maybe gold or olive wood.

I have too many unique glasses to choose from - wine and champagne flutes, goblets, mason jar mugs, whiskey glasses, hand painted glasses and a wide variety of colors. I have a glass for every beverage - Even port sipping glasses! The one thing that changes on my table each occasion are the glasses.

For this neutral, trendy table setting, I'm using my personalized b.a.gorgie stemless wine glasses. I like stemless wine glasses, cause you can serve red or white wine, as well non-alcoholic beverages in the same glass.

I love this marble and brass cheese board from William Sonoma. I think it's suitable for casual dinning or a formal setting. The handles make it easy to carry this heavy marble board. The brushed brass handles and "cheese" lettering give this board a modern vibe.

This witty cheese board started my obsession with white marble. I also purchased marble coasters with gold pineapples from William Sonoma. They're fun and combined with the marble cheese board, my trendy table has personality.

I also like to display mismatched coasters. These antique brass hammered coasters from William Sonoma are festive and standout. The antique brass matches the gold tones on my table perfectly.

This CB2 flatware set prompted me to go with the black, white and gold theme. This Earl brushed gold and resin 20-piece set is modern and quirky. I love the pinstripe detail.

I'm considering to purchase a brushed black flatware set as well for casual dinning. This pinstripe and gold set is suited more for festive occasions.

This flatware set is super-light. I was hesitant to keep them, in fear that the light-weight would seem cheap, but the mixed material and contemporary look outweighed the lack of heft.

The CB2 vapor black and white salad plates placed on the Le Creuset dinner plates are intriguing and add a little texture to the setting. They are created by dipping porcelain into a white and black soapy glaze.

I can't go in to a CB2 store and not purchase something - it's the Sephora of decor. The in-store and online displays are inspiring. I purchased my center piece in-store. It is comprised of a petrified wood salt and pepper set, and oil and vinegar cruets atop of a marble and brass server.

I leave this display on my table at all times, or if I'm doing a charcuterie at the kitchen counter, I'll temporarily place it there.

The marble server floats on a sculptural gilded base, elevating the salt and pepper set and cruets. This CB2 marble server comes in two sizes. If you purchase both, you can place the small one slightly under the larger for a tiered display.

The porcelain oil cruet and vinegar cruet have a Gatsby-esque vibe and contrast nicely with the textured glass cruet. I combined oil and dry herbs, along with dried hot peppers in the glass cruet.

I also purchased a marble and brass wine coaster for red wine and a marble and brass wine chiller for the white wine. These wine holders are a stylish addition to my trendy table setting. They're also great for serving wine on my marble countertop - they protect the fragile marble.

The Kuleto wine pictured above is not from Dry Farm Wines, but rather a long-time favorite red wine.

Always make sure to serve a pitcher of water. I place one or two (one on each side of my giant table) IKEA Korken bottle's with a stopper. Of course, I serve Evian water. YES, people can tell the difference between tap water and bottled water. You can also serve one still and one carbonated water.

My go-to stores for this table decor were CB2 and William Sonoma. Other great decor and furniture stores that I frequent are Crate and Barrel and The Pottery Barn.

I had so much fun creating a trendy table setting. I had no idea shopping home decor would bring me so much pleasure - I kinda wanna create two different settings. Stay tuned..

My Must-Haves

August 09, 2019

Fall and Winter accessories and apparel are my favorite AND I should be perusing the new arrivals, but I'm stuck on Summer styles. Maybe I'm holding on to summer in hopes that it will last a little longer than usual. I'm still obsessed with pale colors, floral prints and pretty details.

This Chloé bandana-printed silk twill minidress (available at MyTheresa) is the perfect chic-bohemian look. The short, trapeze silhouette is flattering and the high collar elevates this style. I would pair this dress with booties and Chloe Nile handbag. Perfection!

I LOVE the "don as many hair clips as you can" trend. Dorit Kemsley is the hair clip queen and one of my favorite celebrities for fashion inspiration. Google her hair clip madness - it's brilliant!

I have to have these Saint Laurent crystal-embellished hair clips (available at MyTheresa). These antique silver-tone metal hair clips are encrusted with the Saint Laurent brand in crystals. LOVE! Saint Laurent also has "Call Me" hair clips - I'll take those too.

I have an abundance of everything, but t-shirts are my clothing-crack! The Palm Angels "Kill the Bear" t-shirt (available at Ssense) dons a bouclé graphic appliqué of a bear with it's head removed. It's a little morbid, but I like it. This brand is new to me and the various teddy bear inspired styles have my attention.

I'm considering to sell an LV handbag so I can add this pretty, pink arm candy to my collection. I've been coveting this Dolce & Gabbana pink PVC mini Sicily tote for too long. The Sicily silhouette is structured and chic. Pink is my favorite color and this shade of pink is perfection. The sporty strap gives this otherwise classic silhouette a modern vibe. HAVE TO HAVE!
