The Bodysuit

September 14, 2015

I don't remember how old I was the last time I wore a bodysuit, but it was in the nineties and I had a drawer full of them. I suddenly feel old! Bodysuits have kinda lingered in the background over the years - I purchased a Wolford bodysuit a few years ago and felt the body-hugging fit was unflattering and showing off all my imperfections (I returned it). Thankfully the 'cropped top' trend forced me to maintained a flat stomach and bodysuits are an option again. I love a turtleneck bodysuit paired with high-waisted flares or cropped trousers (high-waisted is a must). One of my favorite looks for Fall is my Tibi stretch-jersey turtleneck bodysuit and cropped stretch-jersey wide-leg pants in dark grenache - I am a bit obsessed with monochromatic looks. Channeling the seventies this season, opt for a simple turtleneck design in neutral shades paired with corduroy or denim flares and a thick heel. Visit NET-A-PORTER and browse Donna Karan NY, Wolford and Body Editions for simple and unexpected bodysuit designs.

Red Red Wine

August 27, 2015

Merlot, burgundy, grenache and bordeaux - let the rich colors of red wine inspire your fashion choices this upcoming season. Don't be afraid to wear shades of dark red from head-to-toe. Don a burgundy cable-knit sweater atop a grenache colored pant, or matching silk top and leather skirt in crimson-red. Emilio Pucci's velvet wide-leg pants in burgundy and Giamba's sleeveless fur tank inspire a perfect I'm chic, quirky and soft to the touch look! Pair red wine colors with cream, shades of gray and deep blue hues. Fur (faux too), velvet, wool, heavy lace.. dark red colors combined with textured fabrics are alluring, sophisticated and spot-on for fall.

Fabulous Fendi

August 21, 2015

I'm officially declaring Friday, 'Fun Fashion Day'. Not sure I would wear these fluffy pink boots, but they're still fabulous! Shearling footwear dominated the Fendi Fall 2015 runway - These powder-pink shearling booties, with a glass-like, Perspex heel appeared to float down the runway. Love this pink shearling? There are a Peeakboo micro shearling shoulder bag and strapless shearling dress available in the same powder-pink. LOVE!

Available at NET-A-PORTER.

Inspired by the Seventies

August 18, 2015

My recent visit to Zara (actually my first time shopping at Zara) has made me think differently about fast fashion and admittedly, I am a fan. Zara's impression of Fall 2015 designer collections stay true to the original style while keeping a short distance from mimicry. The colors, prints and silhouettes are 'what's now'. With a little designer inspiration and your own interpretation, anyone can re-create Fall's high-end fashion looks from Zara apparel and accessories. Just beyond the front doors was a seventies inspired collection that screamed Gucci Fall 2015 (one of my favorite collections this upcoming season). I also recognized a little Chloé in the clothing and purchased an oversized, shaggy vest similar in concept, but different material than the one seen atop a denim Cholé dress during the Fall show.

And so, another fashion collage to inspire you - seventies fashion is back (not sure it ever left). This seasons seventies inspired collections are retro and modern, feminine and flattering. Flared trousers are literally the most flattering cut on women. Denim and corduroy, shag and sheer will rein favorite materials this Fall. Hue's of pink, gray, dark red and the oh so retro camel are choice colors. Styling notes: flared on the bottom - fitted on top, loose or flared overalls, feminine silk tops, barely-there makeup and easy going hair.

Trend: Gray

August 12, 2015

The Fall season is nearing and I feel myself gravitating towards anything gray. Each season I subconsciously adopt a new hue and can't help but purchase everything in shades of my new found color. I do love a head-to-toe gray ensemble and encourage you to try it, but all gray every day will get boring! Don your gray accessories with neutral tones, such as cream and tan for a classy look. Rose, Salmon and peach shades paired with gray accessories will enhance your complexion and soften your look. Need a pop of color? Seafoam green will brighten your ensemble. I also love dark red paired with gray. A red merlot silk dress worn beneath a bathrobe-style gray sweater or crimson red over-the-knee boots with a long, heavy-knit poncho in smoke gray. Both rich in color, feminine and perfect Fall looks. Although there are perfect pairings, gray goes with everything and versatile accessories are must-haves.

Fall Trend: Pink

July 22, 2015

The universally flattering pink is on-trend for Fall 2015. Whether it be bright pink, fuchsia, pale pink, Barbie pink or pinkish peachy, seems like the entire pink spectrum is having a moment in fashion. Not all pink shades work for every skin tone, so find your pink, one that works with you and not against you - for pale skin tones opt for a brighter pink, cool tones for black hair and warm for blonde. Pair pale pink with mint green, rose with teal and fuchsia with orange. One accent color is enough - you don't want to look like a rainbow! Embrace the trend and wear a full pink ensemble, like Tibi's blush pink skirt and top (above). If you're hesitant to don a pink look, then opt for a pink accessory - sunglasses and shoes are a subtle way to showcase your love for color. Fall's feminine pink shades are refreshing to a usually dark-toned season in fashion. Much of my closet is pink and I'm thrilled to see shades of pink in many Fall 2015 collections.

Karlito Tote

July 16, 2015
This tote is amazing and 'yes' I'm considering it.. It's a vibrant, outrageous carryall tote that says, 'I'm ridiculous and I have a great sense of fashion humor'. Karlito Tote is just one of the clever and kooky items from Fendi this season. Fendi's Bag Bug/Monster collection for Fall 2015 include oversized fur embellished monster scarves, Karlito iPhone cases and sneakers, Bag Bug sweaters, shoes and bags, fur monster jackets and shearling monster backpacks, for the more subdued a furry brow atop one-eye Bag Bug scarfs and beanies (I'm partial to the gray and pink) and of course new bag charms - Luv these fur balls. The collection continues to expand with new items released each day.. Visit farfetch.com and NET-A-PORTER to view Fendi's newly released Bag Bug apparel and accessories. I'm loving this collection!

Mind Your Midriff

July 02, 2015

Before I go on a rant about minding your midriff, let me be clear - most women have midriff concerns and it is normal to have a slight bump or swelling in your abdomen area. Only models (whom are usually in their twenties) have a flat stomach and they work hard for it. Those of us who don't obsess over our physic during the winter, might have some regrets come that first summer heat-wave. Even if you bust your ass tryna get fit for summer vacation, after the first salt-rimmed margarita and poolside burger - your bloated! So don't fret, just dress appropriately and do your best to mask your shortcomings with the right attire. Here are some bikini options for those of us trying to cover our midriff while keeping fashionable and cool in tropical temperatures. Moderate to high rise bottoms are your best friend this summer. Side ruching (gathering of material) creates a diversion and makes the area appear smaller. Prints conceal, while solid colors tend to show your figure for what it is. Horizontal stripes will make your bust look larger and your hips wider, in turn your belly will appear flatter. A pair of high-waisted shorts atop your bikini is a cute 'cover up'. It's all about playing with proportions, texture, prints and styles to find your perfect poolside attire.

Summertime Shades

June 10, 2015

White and off-white are always on trend during the summertime - we all look great in white attire atop our bronzed skin! This summer don a variety of off-white shades together, wear a neutral print, try textured textiles and of course, your shoes should be off-white - laced sandals, slides and sneakers are staple shoes for summer 2015. Here's some inspiration..

Alice + Oliva Margaux Smocked Dropwaist Dress, Tibi Camilo Sandals, Tibi Tie Crop Top, Alice + Olivia Kizzy Full Pouf Skirt, Karl Lagerfeld Sneakers, Haute Hippie Longhorn Tank, Isabel Marant Natacha Fringed Mini Skirt, Tibi Mina Leather Slides, Isabel Marant Bracelet.

Isabel Marant Spring 2015

March 26, 2015
I luv luv luv the Isabel Marant Spring 2015 collection. Pictured here: fringed silk gilet, fringed woven silk poncho and matching skirt and cotton-crepe wrap vest. I wouldn't wear these items as pictured - the all-white tribal look doesn't quite translate to city street style, but rather the gilet atop an oversized tee and leather or suede leggings, the poncho atop denim flares and the fringed woven silk skirt with a white v-neck tee and gladiator sandals. Visit NET-A-PORTER to view the collection - happy shopping!
