It was Carolyn Stanbury (Ladies of London) that inspired my transition from long black hair to a blonde bob. Although my amazing hairstylist was eager to give me a new look and willing to put in the time, I'm sure he thought I was having a 'life crisis'! After a lengthy chat about color choices and what to expect, it began..
Cutting my hair was the easy part and I still don a Carolyn Stanbury bob. The bleaching process was terrifying. It didn't hurt, but watching my hair turn bright orange triggered regret. After two bleaching sessions, a beautiful red color application and a much needed treatment, I was surprised at the results. A few days later, I went back for more. Going forward it would be regular visits to the salon for blond highlights. After the first visit my hair was brown with natural blonde highlights. I was 80% there!
I regret to say I missed my black hair and didn't feel like myself anymore, so I went back to black. I kinda wish I had gone all the way and then determined whether or not the color was for me, but I do love my signature black hair. The lesson here - be sure you want a drastic hair transformation before investing days at the salon and a ridiculous amount of money! I would've liked to post the full-process from black to blonde and pondered posting this video, but figured why not share my experience.
