Latest Lip Loves

October 09, 2018

I'm a self-proclaimed lip balm addict and am always looking for a Sephora Kiss Me Balm replacement. YEAH, Sephora discontinued my long-time favorite and I have yet to find another supreme lip balm. A few have come close, but there are some products you just cant replace. SO the lip balm section in my Cosmocube continues to grow..

On the list - Korres Mandarin Lip Butter Stick in peach and colorless AND one of my favorite cosmetic brands, Too Faced Peach Lip Balm.

If you like the scent of peach, you're gonna love this lip treatment - Too Faced Peach Lip Balm smells delicious AND taste kinda yummy too! The peaches and cream infused balm is light-medium weight, non-sticky and super nourishing. I prefer a stick over a pot (there's something about sticking your fingers in the product that turns me off), BUT the texture and scent make up for the less than desirable packaging. I just wanna eat it - well, I don't want to eat lip balm, but the scent is inviting.

I got these Korres Mandarin Lip Butter Sticks at Revolve and I am impressed. The texture is light-weight, creamy and creates a full-coverage film over your lips. The scent is nothing to write home about, but it ain't gross either. The peach color is little orange for me - I apply it under pink lipstick for a peachy lip look. The colorless balm is perfect for daily wear, a lipstick foundation or just a little nourishment.

Glow Oil & Bod Buff

September 24, 2018

Yeah, I'm talkin' about Sol De Janeiro again! I love this cosmetic brand - it's my signature scent. The (somewhat new) Limited Edition Sol De Janeiro Glow Oil is a moisturizing shimmer oil for the body. It kinda smells like the signature Sol De Janeiro pistachio-caramel scent, but is little different. It's delicious, but BEWARE, the scent is strong and lingers..

I used Ipanema Sunset Glow Oil all summer and the natural glow enhanced my look and photos dramatically - all you need is a little sun to reflect the sparkle. Apply the body oil along your arms and down the front of your legs. This is not an all-over body oil (unless you wanna look like you rolled around in sparkly grease). The bottle says for the body and face, but this stuff is thick and there's a sh*t ton of fragrance in it - I wouldn't recommend putting it on your face.

I'm always cautious applying oil to my body in fear that it will ruin my clothes. I haven't experienced the Sol De Janeiro rubbing off on my clothes, but it is an oil and it's tinted, so I'm super careful where I apply it - you should be too.

The bottle is small, great for travel AND a little product goes a long way. I used this Ipanema Sunset Glow Oil all summer and am not half way through the bottle yet. I've tried too many body shimmer products AND this one is my favorite.

I have a lot to say about Sol De Janeiro Bod Buff. The soothing scrub 'n' mask doubles as a body exfoliator and detoxifying mask. This thick, quartz crystal infused Amazon River clay dons the signature scent, pistachio-caramel AND it's potent!

The texture is nice - thick, creamy and the perfect consistency of quartz crystals, tropical volcanic pumice and rice grain. This stuff will leave your skin feeling soft and perfectly polished. The Amazon River Kaolin clay has negatively-charged particles that bond with positively charged toxins and thus purifies your skin. It's little too scientific for me, but I'll take your word for it! The tube is a nice size and easily folds, so you're not left with a ton of unusable, unattainable product.

When I initially tried the product, I was al little turned off by the color AND when I realized it was intentional - hmm.. This old-mustard shade is kinda funky and reminiscent of gross baby food. The color is a not a deterrent for me, but I'm confused by the creative choice. Oh, and even if you think you've removed all the Bod Buff from your skin, you are undoubtably gonna have yellow residue on your towel.

The Sol De Janeiro lineup also includes the Brazilian Touch Hand Cream, Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance, Bum Bum Body cream, Brazilian 4 Pay Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel, Brazilian Kiss Cupuacu Lip Butter, Samba 2-step Foot Fetish Care and Bum Bum Bath Bomba. I've tried all but the last two and award Sol De Janeiro body cosmetic brand of the year (AGAIN).

Many Sol De Janeiro products are available in a mini size (LOVE THAT). They're perfect for travel and refillable. I'm gonna pack the mini Bum Bum Body Cream and mini Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel for my next adventure in Tulum, Mexico. It's the perfect beach vacation scent.

These Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum Body Cream samples contain just enough for one application.  I appreciate when cosmetic companies create quality samples. I got these at Sephora, but am sure all retail establishments that sell Sol De Janeiro have samples - get yourself some, and trust me, you'll be addicted too.

HUM Supplements

August 06, 2018

HUM is an all-natural line of supplements that include tablets, soft gels, gummies and powders. These 'beauty' vitamins have been thoughtfully developed to address lifestyle and beauty concerns. The founders of HUM believe diet alone will not address all of your beauty concerns and regular intake of targeted supplements will give you a little extra boost.

There are currently twenty-five HUM supplements sold at Sephora, ranging from cleansing vitamins, dietary supplements, skin, nails and hair vitamins, collagen boosters and sleep supplements. I initially purchased many products from the HUM lineup, but the dietary and cleanse vitamins didn't agree with my stomach. I also struggle with taking vitamins and pills, (especially the large ones), so taking four huge vitamins a day wasn't for me. I did however like the gummies, Collagen POP dissolvable tablets and Beauty zzZz supplements.

The Collagen POP tablets consist of premium marine collagen peptides and vitamin C. Combined these supplements boost skin hydration, elasticity and firmness. HUM's type one collagen (premium marine collagen), is the same found in the body AND Vitamin C increases natural collagen in the body. Of course, as we age, the collagen in our body decreases, so it's important to take supplements that encourage collagen production.

I've only gone through one container of HUM Collagen POP fizzing tablets and it's too early to say whether or not these tablets make a difference. I do however prefer dissolvable tablets over hard pills and super-sized vitamins. The taste is kinda strange and floral-like. I'm not into drinking or eating flowers, so that's a deterrent. Maybe HUM will produced a fruity flavored tablet - hint hint HUM! I will however continue to drop these dissolvable tablets in my water every other day. If anything, HUM Collagen POP tablets intrigued me and now I'm set on finding a collagen supplement suitable for me.

HUM Beauty zzZz vegetarian tablets will absolutely promote a good night sleep. I started taking these sleep enhancing tablets last year - I had so much on my mind, was stressing about life and only sleeping a few hours a night. I was exhausted all of the time and felt like a zombie during the day. These sleep supplements definitely improved my sleep habits. Thankfully, I sleep much better now, BUT once and a while I take these melatonin and B6 supplements when I'm restless.

If you're anxious and need to catch up on your zzz's, try taking a Benadryl. This allergy medication puts me right to sleep and keeps me under for hours. I'm not a doctor and am not recommending regular use, but I don't see anything wrong with taking allergy medication - you would after all take one Zyrtec a day during allergy season!

Olaplex Bond Maintenance

July 24, 2018

Yeah, it's been two years and I'm still goin' on about my botched hair job. I'm scarred for life!

May 17, 2017 (re-post). It's been almost a year since my traumatic and altogether unsuccessful hair transformation. They all (the many hairstylists) said it will take six months to recover my hair. I've been obsessively treating, cutting and babying my strands - Still, eleven months and counting.. Hair grows (it's a fact), but repairing severely damaged hair takes time - Oh, and lots of products. I'm embarrassed to say how much I've spent on hair repair solutions and vitamins.

Initially, I was skeptical of Olaplex and didn't have great things to say about this preventative treatment. The stylist who took my hair from black to orange to green to greenish-gray-yellow-blonde (YUP, thats what I ended up with), said Olaplex would protect my hair from the bleach and there would be little damage. NOT TRUE! Clearly this stylist overestimated the treatment and was 'possibly' misinformed. I was still under the impression that Olaplex would repair my hair. I used Olaplex one, two and three for a few months after, but didn't feel like my hair was getting better, so I discontinued the treatments.

Some time later my new stylist explained that Olaplex is a preventive treatment, and not a hair repair solution. She said regular applications would keep my hair from being further damaged. I got back on the Olaplex-wagon. Along with intense hydrating masks and vitamins, my hair 'slowly' started to grow. My stylist includes Olaplex step-one in my color solution. After rinsing the color, Olaplex step-two is applied. In between salon visits, I use Olaplex step-three (just once). Admittedly, I've been converted and am a fan of this hair-care product.

I'm sure it was a combination of many hair repair products, but so many people think Olaplex is a miracle treatment, that I'm inclined to give this bond multiplier, bond protector and hair protector credit for my healthy, shiny hair.

I was excited when I saw Olaplex Shampoo & Conditioner at Sephora. I'm a Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil super-fan and have tried a ridiculous number of other shampoos and conditioners, but always go back to Bb. Not this time - Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner have landed a permanent spot in my haircare routine.

The No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo has a refreshing citrus scent. I think I smell a slight coconut scent in there too - it reminds of Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil shampoo and conditioner. The scent is kinda strong and lingers. The shampoo lathers like crazy. I used my usual dollop and had suds running down my face, neck and back. I suggest starting with a small amount. Typically, if I go three days without washing my hair, I have to shampoo twice, but with Olaplex Bond Maintenance Shampoo, one wash is sufficient.

The No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner has a similar scent, but less intense and kinda creamy (fitting, considering it's nourishing cream for your hair). This stuff is thick and a little goes a long way. I usually use IGK Prenup Instant Spray Hair Mask after Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil, but it's not necessary with Olaplex conditioner. This creamy product is super-nourishing and leaves my hair feeling soft. After using Olaplex shampoo and conditioner, drying and styling, my hair does feel heavier than usual, but knowing that I'm repairing my hair once a week, is worth the weight. I'm a fan!

Olaplex products are kinda pricey, but you don't need a lot of shampoo or conditioner each time you wash. I think these bottles will last me months (washing once a week). I do suggest you alternate shampoo and conditioner brands. This nourishing treatment may be a little heavy for regular use.

You can purchase the Olaplex Salon Intro Kit - it includes the No.1 (step 1) Bond Multiplier, No.2 (step 2) Bond Perfector and No.3 (step 3) Hair Perfector. You an also purchase No.3 in a 100 ml bottle for more frequent use.

If you have damaged hair, or just want to give your hair some extra love once and a while, I highly recommend Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. The repairing shampoo and super-moisturizing conditioner will leave your hair feeling soft, shiny and healthy.

Latest Lip Loves

June 20, 2018

Lipstick, lip balms, lip exfoliators, lip treatments.. I'm addicted to lip'stuff'! It's not even possible to use everything in my giant Cosmocube, but I just cant help myself. My latest lip loves are the perfect summer shades and a new nourishing balm.

Too Faced quickly became one of my favorite cosmetic brands this year. I purchased everything from the Peach collection and now I'm addicted. This Too Faced Peach Beach lipstick is the perfect coral shade. The color enhances sun-kissed skin and gives a pop of flirty, summer color. It's not bright (or florescent - like some), but rather a subtle coral.

The creamy product glides on nicely and feels like it's nourishing your lips. The scent is kinda strange and off-putting (oh, and it lingers). I think they were going for a peach scent, but I'm confused by the outcome? Albeit, I still love the color and the texture is nice.

The packaging is attractive, solid and goes well with my Pat McGrath Labs Lip Fetish Lip Balm..

Since Sephora discontinued my favorite Kiss Me lip balm, I've been on the hunt for a balm just a good (it's been a struggle). I've purchased a few great ones, but everything pales in comparison to the Kiss Me Balm.

Pat McGrath Labs Lip Fetish Lip Balm is definitely a contender for the favorite title. The packaging is great, solid and I love the gold-tone lips embellishment. The barely-there scent is subtle (I like that). The balm is creamy (I can feel a little wax), lightweight and feels nice. It's lighter than most balms I've tried, but you can feel the product on your lips.

The Sephora Collection #lipstories lipstick lineup currently consist of 40 thoughtfully packaged shades in matte, metallic and satin finish. I love the decorative tubes. They're small and each one dons art representing adventures around the world. The packaging itself seems a little cheap, but don't be fooled - the lipstick is good quality.

I'm a nude, peach and coral lipstick kinda girl. I rarely sway from my go-to shades, but if you love trying new colors, this collection is perfect. The lipsticks are inexpensive and small. You won't feel terrible if you dislike the color and toss it.

I purchased satin finish 03 OUI! (cream finish) and 06 Tan Lines (cream finish). These shades are perfect for my skin tone. They are lightweight and still give you full-coverage. 03 OUI! is a pale rose tone and 06 Tan lines is more nude with a little hint of peach. The lipstick goes on nicely and doesn't dry out your lips. I always apply a nourishing lip balm minutes before applying lipstick (you should try this method).

Both lipsticks have a fruity scent, so I'm assuming they all do. I'm not a scented lipstick fan, but could it be worse and smell like flowers! YES, they're are floral scented lipsticks! YUCK!

I'm a fan of the Sephora Collection #lipstories lipstick collection. Sephora - PLEASE stop discontinuing our favorites and bring back the Kiss Me Balm!

30,000 Feet

May 02, 2018

IGK was founded by prominent stylists from New York, Los Angeles and Miami. These innovative stylists create trends and their products are 'of-the-momment'. The luxury hairstyling brand is expanding their lineup - these contemporary products are just what the beauty-conscious client needs to achieve on-the-go styling and on-trend looks.

I'm obsessed with IGK hairstyling products. I have way too many for someone with a boring bob hair style. Here's a few super-volumizing products that give my hair a much needed lift, dry-cleanse and some on-the-go solutions to everyday hair needs..

I'm reaching new heights (literally) with IGK Direct flight Multi-Tasking Dry Shampoo and 30,000 Feet Volume Powder Spray. Going back to the 'root' of dry shampoo, this 'weightless' powder lifts roots with Bentonite Clay. This stuff is amazing. The concept is old, but the application is innovative. The powder comes in a small bottle that lightly sprays the product on your roots.

I have color-treated black hair and am weary of styling powders. Traces of powder is embarrassing, but this invisible 30,000 Feet Powder Spray is kinda undetectable (unless you touch your hair). This stuff leaves a heavy film on your strands. Yeah, you'll achieve great heights, but it feels gross! AND, you'll definitely have to wash your hair the next day. 30,000 Feet Volume Powder Spray is great for styling, but a bit heavy for me.

IGK released First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo and Direct Flight Multi-Tasking Dry Shampoo together and I love the results from both products. Choosing between the two came down to scent. The First Class Dry Shampoo has a strong scent that lingers.. Both dry shampoos contain charcoal powder - an oil absorbing, odor eliminating, volumizing super powder. The First Class has seven percent powders, while the Direct Flight has three - I guess that means the First Class is the stronger of the two? It also contains White Tea to sooth your scalp.

Direct Flight Multi-Tasking Dry Shampoo contains Turmeric for a medium cleanse, that extends your style for at least a day. I have super-oily hair and gaining one extra day is appreciated. I'm more inclined to use this dry shampoo on clean hair for texture and volume. After styling my hair, I spray my roots, let it sit for a minute and comb through. I've been doing this volumizing trick for years and it makes a HUGE difference. The scent is strong, but nice. First Class and Direct Flight are available in travel size, so I recommend you try the minis before committing.

The downside to dry shampoo and volumizing powder or any hairstyling product is the buildup on your strands and scalp. A deep cleanse every few washes is necessary. IGK Low Key Cleasing Walnut Scalp Scrub removes buildup, exfoliates your scalp and refreshes your hair. I received this trial size cooling scalp shampoo with a Sephora purchase and LOVE it. This purifying shampoo contains Apple Cider Vinegar to cleanse your scalp and Walnut Oil to nourish your strands. Your hair and scalp feel super-clean and the scent is refreshing. I have oily hair, but my scalp gets dry?! Exfoliating with Low Key removes dry skin, leaving my scalp looking healthy.

IGK Swipe Up No-Frizz Smoothing Hair Wipes smell amazing! I'm so picky about scented products and love this smell. These portable wipes contain Avocado and Camellia Oils to combat static. I NEED THIS! My hair is super fine and I often get static (especially in hotels). Typically, I would use static guard - yup, the static spray used for clothing, but these individually wrapped wipes have forever changed my anti-static methods. You can feel the oils on the wipe, but it glides on nicely, absorbs and feels weightless on your hair and scalp. LOVE!

Hairstyling wipes are innovative and great for the on-the-go styling and touch-ups. Just toss a few in your handbag and refresh on-demand. IGK Swipe Up Charcoal Dry Shampoo Hair Blotting Tissues are convenient and effective. Upon opening the packet, micro powder particles disappear into the air - the activated black charcoal powder absorbs oil and doesn't leave any residue. The scent is a bit strong, but is dissipates quickly.

Gently press the coated side of the wipe against your scalp and hair for immediate oil-absobtion. You can see the oil on the blotting tissue and may need more than one to combat super oily hair - These Swipe Up tissues are small.

Coconutty

April 16, 2018

During Fall and Winter I don my signature pistachio and salted caramel scent by Sol de Janeiro. The scent is warm, yummy and anything but floral. In keeping with the spirit of nutty scents, this Spring and summer, I'm loading up on Coconut scented cosmetics and flavored products. I am a HUGE fan of coconut (anything coconut). I LOVE fresh coconut water - I put it in my smoothies or drink it straight up (and maybe with a little rum). The sweet, nutty aroma is alluring and reminds me of the beach.
I've comprised a list of coconut scented and flavored products that you will get you into the summer groove.. and escape from the end of winter, 'please make it stop' blues.

Sephora has a small line-up of coconut infused products, AND they're amazing. Sephora Coconut Water Dry Shampoo and Coconut Dry Conditioner are my favorite in-between washes solution. The dry shampoo smells great, goes on light and doesn't leave a great amount of residue. Often dry shampoo leaves your hair feeling dirty - not this stuff. Sephora Coconut Water Dry Shampoo is probably not as effective as the most dry shampoos, but it does a good job without leaving our hair feeling gross. I use this for a little extra volume after washing my hair. AND the sent is delicious.

Sephora Coconut Dry Conditioner nourishes and repairs your strands. The solution is silky and kind of oily, BUT theres no oily residue and it absorbs nicely. Apply the Coconut Water Dry Shampoo to your roots and Coconut Dry Conditioner from mid-length to ends for more resistant, hydrated, shiner hair.

Sephora Coconut Water Cleaning Wipes are my favorite facial wipe. I wash my face with cleansing oil in the AM and facial soap at night, but these wipes are perfect for refreshing your neck and décolletage in between. I wash my hair every three days, so my ears and hairline don't get scrubbed under my shower cap. These wipes allow me to clean and refresh without wetting my hair. The moist wipes smell fresh and sweet. The solution is non-oily and leaves your skin feeling clean. LOVE!

I've mentioned the Sephora Coconut Water Lip Balm a few times and highly recommend the inexpensive lip treatment. It smells great, the texture is thick, but silky and the solution leaves your lips feeling hydrated and protected. I'm a lip balm fanatic (among other things) and this one is in my top five must have lip balms. Don't be discourage by the cheap'ish' packaging, this product is high-quality.

Coconut scented sunscreen is the epitome of vacation on the beach - unless you opt for the 'doctor recommended' scent-free product, then you just smell like medicated cream (no judgement).  I want to smell like coconuts all summer long. The scent is sweet and feminine. AND research shows that people (especially men) are attracted to sweet scents. Who doesn't love the smell of baked cookies?!

Another great travel product is Kopari Coconut Balm. The thick solution is coconut-oil infused and super nourishing. This pure coconut balm contains coconut oil, shea concentrate, aloe vera, beeswax and cocoa seed butter. This salve has anti-aging benefits and hydrating qualities. It goes on nicely, kind of absorbs, but leaves a little sheen on your skin. I wouldn't wear this coconut balm under expensive fabric. The scent is delicious - coconut (with an emphasis on the nutty).

Cocofloss Fresh Coconuts flavored floss smells amazing. The soft, waxed coated floss contains coconut oil and coconut fragrance. The floss texture is nice and leaves your teeth feeling clean and refreshed. Cocofloss has three other floss flavors - Delicious Mint, Pure Strawberries and Cara Cara Orange. Fresh Coconuts is my favorite and goes nicely with my HiSmile coconut flavored mouthwash.

This coconut flavored, whitening mouthwash is interesting to say the least - AND, oh so yummy! Squeeze 1/3 of the tube into your mouth and swish. The thick solution becomes thin and oily as you squish it around. The transition is a nice sensation in your mouth. The coconut oil utilizes the method of oil pulling to extract toxins and the Sodium Bicarbonate whitens your teeth. This stuff is amazing!

I love HiSmile whitening products (so does everyone else on social media). This small product line took over Instagram with the no pain or sensitivity whitening system. The LED light and rubber-like mouth tray fit nicely and brighten your smile naturally. I'v tried similar whitening systems, but this one reigns supreme.

Barely There Eye Shadow

March 18, 2018

I'm a no-makeup makeup kinda girl. The first and last time I swayed from my barley there eye makeup routine, I applied blue mascara AND had a severe allergic reaction to the blue dye! Back to my skin-tone eye shadows and black mascara..

I love nude eye shadow palettes, but they usually contain darker shades for a smokey look and I rarely go beyond a dark skin-toned eye shadow. All my eye shadow palettes are slowly withering in my Cosmocube. Albeit, I'm still addicted to eye shadow palettes and have too many! I'm more inclined to purchase single eye shadows and create my own perfectly nude palette.

My barley there eye makeup routine consists of seven pink-toned and skin-toned eye shadows, maybe a little sparkle and lots of layers. BUT, first prep + prime is essential. I'm obsessed with eye creams. I use Benefit Cosmetics It's Potent! Eye Cream or Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Hydrating Eye Cream under my concealer and shadows, and Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream in the AM - yes, I have a wakeup and refresh skincare routine and then a prep + prime for makeup application routine. For anti-aging, I use Neocutis Lumiére Bio-restoraive Serum Powered by PSP and Neocutis Lumiére Eye Cream with PSP before bed. This stuff is amazing!

The Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Hydrating Eye Cream To Go is compact and the doe-foot applicator is super soft. The hydrating eye cream is light, silky and the perfect under-makeup moisturizer. Your under-eye area feels smooth and refreshed. This 6 ml travel size lip gloss-like tube (limited edition) is convenient and perfect for travel. I prefer this on-the-go applicator over the original Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Hydrating Eye Cream pot.

Primers are essential to an even skin-tone. Yes, your eyelids need a little primer too. Laura Mercier Eye Basics eyelid primer is like foundation for your eyelids. This primer is available in six shades - even a pale blue to brighten your lids. The foundation-like primer is creamy, conceals discoloration and creates the perfect base for eye-makeup. Eyelid primer is a must-have for the perfect nude(ish) look.

Back to my perfectly procured list of barely there shadows. I have to admit, I'm not a huge M.A.C fan, but the pink and skin-tone eye shadow selection is vast. The on-trend shades are gorgeous and the pigmented eye shadows last all day on your lids. I typically start with the lightest shade, apply pink-tone eye shadow to my lids and then two darker shades at the outer corner of my eyelids and in the crease. The final look is subtle, but makes my eyes appear uniform and brighter.

Apply Brulé satin eye shadow all over (up to your brow), Orb satin eye shadow all over (up to your brow), Malt matte eye shadow from the crease to your lashes, Grain satin eye shadow along the crease and blend Arena satin eye shadow from the outer corner and along the crease. Gorgeous! The subtle layers create dimension and elevate your natural, no-makeup makeup look.

I have been a fan of Sephora Collection eye shadows for years. The selection 'was' vast, the eye shadows are inexpensive and the pink-toned shades met my eye-makeup needs. There doesn't seem to be a big selection of the Colorful shadows anymore? Sephora still creates beautiful shadow palettes, but the single eye shadows are becoming obsolete. Bummer, cause I love the Sephora Colorful luster matte shadow in Desert Rose. The light pink shade is perfect for those 'I don't have time for makeup' days. The Sephora Colorful glitter eye shadow in Walking in the Sand is a similar pink shade, but has a little sparkle. I use this eye shadow to highlight the center or inner corner of my lids. This one is on sale at Spehora.com - Imma stock up.

I kinda wish I was aware that Sephora is discontinuing the Colorful eye shadow collection before I included two of my favorites in this list, BUT you can use these shades as a reference.. AND, it takes forever to shoot and edit these photos - Sephora Colorful eye shadows shall remain on my perfectly procured barely there eye makeup list.

Farsáli

February 12, 2018

Famed beauty vlogger, Farah Dhukai, is one lucky girl. She's absolutely stunning, is blessed with perfect hair, has a widely successful online presence AND her husband created a small product line as a solution to her beauty needs! This girl gets a lot of hate online - people do love to complain. Albeit, she could be a total bitch off camera, but I think her quirky online personality is endearing. She's funny, her DIY beauty tips are unique and her tutorials are super entertaining. I say f**k em! They're just jealous!

I'm sure you've heard of Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir. The facial oil containing tiny bits of 24-karat gold launched in July 2015. The must have moisturizer became widely popular on social media. Sephora launched Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir and Farsáli Unicorn Essence on their website in February 2017 - the Rose Gold Elixir sold out in 24 hours. The popular cosmetic brand is slowly expanding, launched Unicorn Tears (now Unicorn Essence) in 2016 and Sephora launched Farsáli Jelly Beam this past January. I'd be happy to test drive any product this company releases..

Farsáli Unicorn Essence was originally named Unicorn Tears - umm.. kinda sad! Beauty vloggers and bloggers took to Instagram AGAIN, this time dripping Unicorn Essence or Tears down their face. It's a little weird, but intriguing nevertheless. Unicorn drama aside - this skin enhancing, antioxidant serum contains açaí berry, goji berry, elderberry and blueberry. Combined, these extracts contain anti-aging properties and tons of vitamin C.

The water-based formula soaks into your skin nicely, is non-greasy and leaves your skin feeling moisturized. The light solution is a pretty pink with micro sparkles. I guess unicorns cry pink, sparkly tears?!  It smells nice too - the light scent is sweet and lingers. I don't love it as much as I do the Rose Gold Elixir, but if you have time for one more step in your routine, this product is delightful.

I was super excited to try the Farsáli Jelly Beam Illuminator. This gel-to-powder highlighter is concentrated and LOADED with pigment. If you want a high-shine look, you'll love this stuff. The gel-like formula goes on nicely and quickly turns to powder - I found it a little difficult to blend, but the pale, peachy-pink color and high shine is gorgeous and effective. This is not an everyday kinda highlighter.

Farsáli Jelly Beam Illuminator is good, but not enough to replace my go-to highlighter, Benefit Cosmetics Watt's Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter. While I'm sure I won't use the Farsáli Jelly Beam Illuminator on my face, I will however combine Jelly Beam with my body moisturizer to add a little shimmer to my shoulders, décolletage and legs. Oh, and a little goes a long way.

Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir is a facial oil with tiny particles of 24-karat gold floating in it. This beauty oil has forever changed my makeup routine and enhanced my look dramatically. I apply my tinted primer, tinted moisturizer (and maybe foundation). Then I apply 'many' drops of the elixir to my damp beautyblender and gently blend for perfect coverage. I use the same beautyblender (and Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir) to blend my concealer, under eye brightener and cream-to-powder highlighter. This 24-karat gold infused beauty oil is amazing.

Steam Balm & Finger Balls

February 05, 2018

Blackheads are considered a mild form of acne caused by clogged hair follicles. The sebum (oil) that is produced in the hair follicle, combined with dead skin cells, pushes to the surface creating a tiny bump. Once the open hair folicle, oil and dead skin cells reach air, it oxidizes and turns black. You have approximately five million hair follicles on your body and hundreds of thousands on your face. The chances that you are going to experience blackheads is super high.

Other than expensive in-office treatments, I have yet to find an at-home solution to combat blackheads. I have very small blackheads and nothing works for me. I exfoliate and that helps a bit. I also use nose strips once and while - they pull out some of the impurities, but nothing miraculous.

In addition to the extensive clothing and accessories selection, my favorite online shop, Revolve, has a new'ish' beauty department. Many of the products are similar to Sephora, but there are also unique cosmetics that I've never seen or heard of. The Tomymoly Egg Pore Blackhead Steam Balm & Corsx Blackhead Silk Finger Ball are two products I had to try..

The self-heating Egg Pore Blackhead Steam Balm by Tonymoly feels nice and relaxing. The product contains charcoal to remove impurities and provides antibacterial qualities. It also contains sea salt to remove residue and egg yolk to moisturize your skin.

Apply a little to the desired area and gently massage for 3-5 minutes. Yeah, FIVE minutes! It's a bit long, but the self-heating quality makes you feel like something is happening.. Once the product turns opaque white, rinse with warm water. After what felt like forever massaging the product onto my skin, I rinsed and NOTHING! My tiny blackheads were still there and my skin didn't appear any different. Hmm.. I guess my expectations were a little too high?

Product scents are a big deciding factor for me and the scent of this steam balm is too strong. It's floral-like, but kind of citrus? I can't explain it, but I can tell you it's not nice. AND you're applying this product to your face, so the scent is right there ON YOUR NOSE.

Corsx Blackhead Silk Finger Balls are little finger mitts made from raw silk cocoons. The natural fibre exfoliates and contains ceracin - a protein that removes skin waste (blackheads and impurities). These finger balls also help maintain moisture in your skin.

These little mitts are fun! Soften the finger ball by soaking it in warm water for a few minutes. Then place the ball on your index finger and gently massage the desired area. You can rinse the finger ball and reuse up to three times, but I wouldn't recommend it - eww! Your essentially removing blackheads from clogged pores onto the finger ball - throw it away when you're done!

The process felt nice and it was fun to try something as unique and interesting as raw silk cocoons. Albeit, I didn't see a change in my skin. My micro blackheads are still there. I will however continue to use these finger mitts once or twice a week just for fun. Maybe I'll see a difference overtime?

Stuff The Stocking With..

December 14, 2017

In my house the unveiling of the stocking stuffers is kinda like the warmup to presents. Stocking stuffers should be small, exciting and typically inexpensive - I'm not opposed to a high-value gift card though! Here's a list of unique stocking stuffers for the product junkie, makeup loving person in your life.

Sephora Christmas inspired sheet masks are the perfect stocking stuffer - They're Christmas themed and pink. Choose from Sephora Avocado Skincare Gloves or Sephora Almond Skincare Socks or both. When you open the packet, you'll notice the gloves/socks are attached - tear at the perforated line, put them on, and pull the tabs around your wrist/ankle to seal in the moisturizing treatment. The inside has a fiber lining drenched in solution and the outside a plastic lining. Best thing about these masks is you can go about your business while wearing them.

The M.A.C Snow Ball collection is AMAZING! I wish I was privy to the launch sooner, cause many items sold out before I had the chance to splurge. The collection is winter themed, sparkly and festive. I'm super excited to get the Face Powder in Here Comes Joy in my stocking - yes, I filled my stocking with amazing gifts. The high-impact shimmer will light up your complexion. AND I love the Festive Bling! crystal and glitter festive adornment. It's the perfect accessory for a New Years celebration.

KNC Beauty Collagen Infused Lip Masks are super fun. There are five masks in a package, so you can share (maybe). These all-natural, jelly-like lip masks moisturize your lips, and well, they're just fun to use. Apply the squishy mask to your lips and relax for 15-20 minutes.

This is some of the best beauty news I heard all year - Sephora has a mini section now. YES, mini, travel-size products from our favorite brands. Mini cosmetics are great stocking stuffers. AND now we can try the best products for a fraction of the cost. These mini's are perfect for travel too. I was so impressed with the mini lineup, I purchased way too many products. Joking, I knew exactly what I was doing - creating the perfect Christmas stocking (for myself). These are three of my favorite products in 2017..

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist is the same yummy scent of Sol Janeiro Bum Bum cream, but in a light body mist. You're gonna want to surround yourself with this pistachio-caramel scent.

Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir is worth its weight in gold! This beauty oil has forever changed my makeup routine and enhanced my look dramatically. I apply 'many' drops of the elixir to my damp beautyblender and gently blend my foundation, concealer, under eye brightener and cream-to-powder highlighter. LOVE.

Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream is a concentrated 30 percent hyaluronic acid cream. If water was creamy- this would be it. It's so refreshing, and leaves your skin feeling silky and super-nourished.

I need to chime in on this makeup blender sensation - I'm a beautyblender® fan, but was curious about the Dab + Blend Applicator by MILK. If you're into foundation and heavy makeup enhancement, this is a fun tool for you. Unlike a sponge, this silicone-like applicator doesn't soak up makeup and washes easily.

On that note, beautyblender® releases new products often. I lost count of the colors this egg-like sponge was available in throughout the last few years. I LOVE this makeup applicator. Pair with Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir and you've just changed your makeup routine forever.

The new beautyblender® keep.it.clean kit includes a small (very tiny) bar of soap and cleansing mitt. You can use any soap (I like the beautyblender liquid), add little water and gentle rub the makeup applicator against the mitt for a super-cleansed sponge.

The Perfect Gifts List 2017

December 12, 2017

Admittedly, there's a few 'to me, from me' gifts under the tree this year, AND a few that didn't even make it to the tree! I'm a self-proclaimed gifting master and every year I buy myself awesome gifts. Here's a 'Perfect Gifts List' for the shopaholic, tea lovin', cosmetic junkie in your life..

The perfect gift starts with great wrapping paper, bows and tags. Choose a color scheme and get creative - I like black, white, red, silver and gold. I purchased these gift tags by eighty seventh ST. last year. This year, I also have 'No Peeking' tags, and HUGE 'From Santa' and 'Merry Christmas' tags in black and gold. The array of gift wrapping under my tree should be displayed in a department store - if I do say so myself.

Christmas tree ornaments are the perfect gift for the 'I'm obsessed with Christmas' person in your life. I LOVE Christmas and each year I receive a new champagne ornament. Pier One Imports has the best ornaments. Every holiday they release new ones, but kinda stick with the theme they've had previous years - Christmas penguins, owls and lots of sparkly tree splash.

Git cards are the ultimate gift. I like giving and receiving gift cards (hint hint). You still have that moment when you exchange gifts, BUT the idea keeps on giving.. You get to shop your favorite store or if your lucky enough to get an AMEX or VISA gift card, you can shop anywhere.

I know some people think gift cards are not personal and denote a lack of effort - So opt for a unique card holder. I purchased this faux-fur pouch at Pier One Imports. I love anything furry. Yes, this gift is for me. From my gift giving experience, people love to receive gift cards.

Of course I have some beauty products on my list. This Amika Polished Perfection Mini Straightening Brush is unique and inexpensive. This small thermal straightening brush is great for touch-ups and on-the-go styling. There is a full-size version of this hairbrush-straightener, but I like the mini size better. This heated tool won't give you results like a traditional straightener, but does minimize frizz, leaves your hair shiny and is great for travel.

I LOVE the Peaches and Cream Collection by Too Faced. These products are infused with peach and sweet fig cream. Who wouldn't want peach scented makeup. Too Faced should produce a body cream with this scent..

The Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick is a velvety formula that feels creamy and gives you a matte look. Oh, and it smells like Strawberry Shortcake (the doll). LOVE.

The peach scent of the Peach Frost Melting Powder Highlighter is delicious. The highlighter feels creamy to touch, but glides on seamlessly, and transforms into a powder on your skin. The peachy, gold-tone is warm and gives you a nice glow.

The Peach My Cheeks Melting Powder Blush is a cream to powder product as well. The product is nice and goes on smooth - I recommend applying it with a kabuki brush or your fingers.

Too Faced Translucent Finishing Powder is a peach-colored powder that smoothes imperfections and gives you a nice warm look. The powder contains optical-correcting spheres - for a luminescent finish, but gives you a warm, matte look.

Too Faced Sweet Pie Radiant Matte Bronzer looks and smells like a delicious pie. This is not a contouring bronzer, but rater an all over, radiance-boosting bronzer. I use it on my face, neck and décolleté.

For the makeup loving, product junkie in your life, anything from this collection will do.

Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir is on my 'Perfect Gifts List' again this year. This beauty oil has forever changed my makeup routine and enhanced my look dramatically. I apply my foundation with a brush. Then I apply 'many' drops of the elixir to my damp beautyblender and gently blend my foundation for perfect coverage. I use the same beautyblender (and Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir) to blend my concealer, under eye brightener and cream-to-powder highlighter. This elixir is amazing. Sephora recently added the Farsáli lineup to their shelves. This Rose Gold Elixir is available in two sizes - 15 ml and 30 ml.

My list wouldn't be complete without tea products. I'm obsessed with tea - I drink five to seven cups a day. This 24 Days of Tea Set by Davids Tea was on my wishlist, but I was worried the limited edition would sell out, so I bought it for myself! Anyone who likes tea will love this set of 24 popular tea blends. Davids Tea has smaller tea sets as well. I'm hoping someone buys me the 'Best of 2017' set.

The Best of 2017

December 06, 2017

The pistachio-caramel scent of Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream is AMAZING! The scent is strong, but sweet and intriguing. The cream is super-nourishing and has a slight shimmer that gives your skin a subtle glow.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist is the same yummy scent of the cream, but in a light body mist. The original bottle is HUGE and now there's a mini (which is still kinda big). You're gonna want to surround yourself with this scent.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Cupuacu Lip Butter is one of my favorite lip balms - I have one in my bathroom, one at my computer and one in my handbag! The light, creamy texture is nourishing and the tube is BIG, so it will last a long time. If I had to chose my favorite new Cosmetic brand of 2017, it would be Sol Janeiro Brazilian.

If you've been living under a rock, you probably haven't heard of Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir. This product is up there with Sugarbearhair and (well) any of the multitude of detox teas taking over Instagram. It's worth its weight in gold! This beauty oil has forever changed my makeup routine and enhanced my look dramatically. I apply 'many' drops of the elixir to my damp beautyblender and gently blend my foundation, concealer, under eye brightener and cream-to-powder highlighter. This elixir is amazing. It's available in two sizes - the mini is perfect for travel.

This is intense hydration - Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream is a concentrated 30 percent hyaluronic acid cream. If water was creamy- this would be it. It's so refreshing, and leaves your skin feeling silky and super-nourished. The non-greasy cream absorbs fairly quickly (a little goes a long way), and doesn't leave your skin shiny. Water Drench Hyaluronic Cream is available in two sizes.

Luxury hairstyling brand, IGK, was founded by in-demand stylists from Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. YOU GOTTA VIEW THESE GUYS ONLINE! These stylists are really fascinating. I'd fly across the country and break the bank to get an appointment with any of these stylists. I LOVE the IGK product line. I have too many IGK products in full-size and travel size. Product junkie here!

IGK Prenup Instant Spray Hair Mask is my favorite. The 360 aerosol spray allows for easy application. The scent is delicious, and your hair will feel nourished and silky after just one minute. I use this mask every time I wash my strands. This hydrating hair mask is a MUST HAVE!

Sephora's soothing Coconut Water Lip Balm is another one of my favorite balms. The scent is delicious and the product feels nourishing on your lips. This balm is available in Goji, Rose, Tangerine, Almond and Coconut Water.

Sephora Honey Lip Scrub is amazing! When I first applied the scrub, I thought this isn't working - how can a balm exfoliate your lips. After a few vigorous applications I reached the grains inside. I rub the balm in circular motions on my lips until they're drenched in product, then I use my finger and massage the grains onto my lips. The result - smooth lips in seconds. It tastes good too - not that you should eat it, but scrubs tend to get in your mouth. LOVE!

IT Cosmetics

November 28, 2017

IT Cosmetics is a cosmetic brand developed with plastic surgeons - sounds promising. The co-founder and CEO, Jamie, is looking for solutions to 'real' problems. Honestly, I like this girl - if you see her before and after pics, she has serious redness (I can relate). She's putting herself out there, showing off her skin issues and giving us a solution.

This brand was purchased by L'Oréal - The major makeup empire boost has proven to be successful. It Cosmetics is getting great reviews and many of IT Cosmetics products are on Sephora's 'best sellers' list. I had to give this stuff a try..

I call this my 'anti-redness warpaint'. If you have Rosacea or hyper pigmentation, this stuff is going to change your life. I desperately needed a solution to my rosy cheeks and forehead. Although I use medicated creams, my angry skin flares up on the daily. I suppose I could stop eating spicy food and drinking wine - NAH!

In comes Bye Bye Redness by IT Cosmetics.. It's kind of a foundation, primer and cream in one. Bye Bye Redness is thick, has a silky texture and gives you super full-coverage. This product is smooth, goes on like a primer (similar to Colorscience primers), and has a tinge of green (to combat redness). Apply to your cheeks, nose and forehead, and blend outwards. A little goes a long way. The embarrassing redness is gone. GONE! Without a doubt, this is the product find of 2017!

I love Bye Bye Redness, so I thought I'd try a few more products from the IT Cosmetics lineup..

The Confidence in a Cream (the pale yellow pot) is a 'transforming moisturizer in a cream'. The texture is nice, just thick enough and leaves your skin feeling moisturized. It does however take time to absorb (not ideal when applying makeup). I liked the feeling of my skin after applying this cream, but the scent is a bit of a turnoff. I'm sorry Jamie, but this stuff smells like hotel cream. If scent is not an issue for you, I'd say this cream is great for colder seasons. It's super moisturizing.

I didn't like the Bye Bye Under Eye eye cream (the blue pot). It made my under eyes feel super tight and people said I looked tired. Whether or not this eye cream tightens, brightens and depuffs - I'm not sure, cause I only used it for a week. I guess my go-to Neo Cutis eye cream still reigns supreme.

I received a trail-size Super Hero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara (I'm not one to cheat), but thought I'd give it a go. This mascara is great, lengthens your lashes, glides on nicely and no clumping. The oversized, tapered brush makes application easy and coats your lashes evenly. Albeit, my go-to Buxom mascara remains my favorite. It's gonna take a true 'super mascara' to turn me.

I intend to try more of the products from It Cosmetics. I'll let ya know my thought..

PLAY! by Sephora

November 17, 2017

I've had many cosmetic subscriptions in the past. The first box was always exciting, but as the months pass, the products seem to become less interesting 'drug store' brands. There's nothing wrong with drug store cosmetics, BUT that's not what I signed up for. I always end up cancelling the subscription after a few months.

Until now.. PLAY! by Sephora has taken 'cosmetic subscriptions' to a higher level of standard. Play! is my favorite beauty box subscription. I've been receiving these little collectible bags of goodies for eight months and have no plans to cancel. There are no drug store brands in this program. Every product is from the Sephora lineup. Each month you receive five deluxe makeup, skincare and haircare samples, AND a bonus fragrance sample.

Play! by Sephora The Iconic Edition was a limited edition beauty box. This one was for purchase only and not a part of the monthly Play! subscription. The gold-tone zipper pouch contained premier cosmetic brand samples Dior, Guerlain, Yves Saint Laurent, La Mer and Burberry. Not sure if you're familiar with La Mer, but that stuff is EXPENSIVE! This deluxe sample alone made The Iconic Edition worth the purchase.

Each month you'll receive five deluxe samples of best-selling products at Sephora. I usually keep two or three and share the rest with friends. A girl can only hoard so much. I can open a Sephora pop-up shop with all the products I have tucked away (they're hidden so no-one sees my addiction and takes my credit card away)!

The excitement of opening the box, getting your little collectible bag and stellar deluxe samples makes my day. It's like a 'Cosmetic Christmas' every month. AND these deluxe samples are amazing.

I'm always happy to see my favorite brands - Bumble and Bumble, Benefit, Sol Janeiro, MILK, (I'd like to see some Too Faced products..), but new brands and cosmetics are welcome. This program allows you to try new cosmetics you would necessarily buy. Most of us are creatures of habit, and hey, if it ain't broken don't fix it! BUT, sometimes change is good and you'd be surprised at what your missing by sticking to the same old brands you've been using for way too long.

Each beauty box contains a little, draw-string bag with beauty-inspired sayings and prints. I love these little collectible bags. They're great for gifts. I also use them when I pack, they're perfect for organizing little things in my suitcase.

Each box contains a Play! Book with tips, product descriptions and how-tos. Your subscription gives you exclusive access to how-to videos and tutorials on Sephora.com. You can also view the current (and past) Play! boxes online.

You will receive a PLAY! Pass - 50 bonus Beauty Insider points. You can redeem these points when you purchase products in-store. Since Sephora introduced Rewards Bazaar, Beauty Insider points are invaluable. The revised rewards program drops amazing one-of-a-kind experiences, services from Sephora, as well as other top brands, and deluxe-size samples and sets every Tuesday and Thursday. I'm banking my points for something great.

Each month there is a subscriber-only event. Play! Date allows you and a friend to come in-store to play with products and meet Sephora beauty experts.

Play! by Sephora has so much to offer.. AND best of all, it's $10 a month! Yup, that's it. You would have to spend $50 to gain 50 Beauty Insider points - you're getting 50 bonus points each month, five deluxe beauty samples, a perfume sample, AND exclusive access to events. DROP THE MIC!

November 24, 2017 - OK, I'm browsing Sephora.com one week after I posted about Play! by Sephora - AND you can purchase these little bags of beauty products for $10 on Sephora.com. These boxes are exclusive, limited edition and online only.

Sephora Stuff

October 25, 2017

Every now and then I'll sift through the Sephora Collection products lineup in search of new, unique cosmetics and tools. I always find good stuff. AND the Sephora brand prices are inexpensive compared to other brands featured at the store and on-line. These are my most recent finds..

Sephora Lineup Makeup Tape is the perfect solution to 'my' eye-makeup application needs. I'm terrible at applying eye-liner and usually opt to go bare, but this tape makes it so much easier to get a straight line and avoid smudging. This medical-grade tape is hypoallergenic and easy to remove. You an also use this tape for nail art.

Sephora Brush it Off Cleansing Brush Wipes gently remove residue and dirt from your makeup brushes. These wipes come in individually packets - great for travel. The non-alcohol based formula is kinda oil-like, but doesn't leave residue on your brushes. These wipes are not for cleaning your brushes, but for a quick wipe to remove the surface dirt.

The Sephora Brush Meets Comb Hair Brush Cleaner is a great little tool. The rake-like comb has flexible, steel bristles that remove hair and residue. I'm a little obsessed with keeping my hair brushes clean - Drives me nuts to see brushes full of hair - GROSS! Attention people who don't clean your brush regularly - there's dirt buildup, residue from products and bacteria festering in there. AND each time you brush your strands you're transferring that nastiness back onto your hair. CLEAN YOUR HAIR BRUSHES OFTEN.

Sephora Do It All Cotton Swabs are perfect for a multitude of makeup needs. There are 490 swabs of three unique precision tips per pack. The oval tip is great for basic needs, while the pointed tip is ideal for precise application.

These swabs are great for makeup removal/cleanup around the eyes. I wet them, and gently remove mascara that has smudged onto my upper lash line and waterline. SO much easer than using a regular cotton swab. Large cotton swabs are of course too big for this area, and the little cotton hairs always attach to my lashes. NO MORE! These swabs can also be used for smudging eyeliner, smoothing lipstick and lipliner edges, and removing nail polish from your cuticles. A must-have!

Beauty Insider 'Rewards Bazaar'

September 28, 2017

I've been a Sephora Beauty Insider for almost ten years! I have a ridiculous amount of points. I used to spend my points on deluxe-size samples and cosmetic sets - Earlier this year, Sephora launched 'Rewards Bazaar'. The revised membership program drops amazing one-of-a-kind experiences, services from Sephora, as well as other top brands, and deluxe-size samples and sets every Tuesday and Thursday. I guess I'm not the only Insider with an enormous amount of points, and they had to create a platform for all the product junkies to spend their points. Rewards Bazaar rewards range from 100 - 15,000 points (so the site claims)! BUT, I recall seeing rewards upwards of 30,000 points. SO YOU KNOW - for every dollar spent at Sephora, you get one point. This program is brilliant, and makes being a loyal Sephora customer worth every dollar spent.

These epic rewards go fast. I had my eye on a Wildfox + Sole dutch-style bicycle. I had to have this bike - Every Tuesday and Thursday, I sat at my computer and waited for the new rewards to appear (refreshing the site often). These rewards drop between 9:00 am - 5:00 pm PT. I almost had the bicycle.. It was in my cart, and by the time I reviewed all the other products and chose samples, the bike was sold out. WHAT THE F**K - it was in my cart. Apparently, these rewards cannot be reserved and held in your cart for even a minute. Only 15 bikes for 5000 points, and they were sold out in three minutes!

I'll admit, I'm a bit stingy with my points. I'm not gonna spend them on just anything. A few months ago I snagged the IGK Great Escape Hair Set (pictured here). The reward included an IGK pouch, travel-size products - Jet Lag Invisible Dry Shampoo, Beach Club Texture Spray, Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel, Hot Girls Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner, Call Time Styling Primer, an IGK hair tie, Hot Girls hair clip and hotel-style 'Rich Kid' slippers. I'm a HUGE fan of IGK and will definitely use everything in this set. It was well worth the 2000 points.

If your not a Beauty Insider, join the club. Even the 100 point deluxe-size samples are worth the membership. Each month new 100 and 500 point rewards are posted. The 500 point rewards are kits containing four - five products from a single brand. These make great gifts.

I'm a beauty blogger and purchase all of the products posted on b.a.grogie. Rewards for my dollars spent are very much appreciated. Thanks Sephora!

August 15, 2017
This twist-up, crayon-like Bb. color stick is the perfect root touch-up product. I have light-brown hair, BUT color my strands black. I hate when my roots show, and admittedly, I have three grays (that I can see)! I dye my hair every three weeks, so my roots are maintained. I do however have very fine hair, and this color stick is great for filling in sparse areas. Just glide the twist-up pencil along your hair for perfect coverage. The formula is water resistant - don't worry about color running down your face, neck and clothes if you get caught in the rain. The stick is compact and takes a little while to cover your roots (or grays), but is great for travel and on-the-go touch ups.

The Bumble and Bumble Bb. Color Stick is available in five natural shades - blonde, dark blonde, brown, red and black. There are four limited edition statement hues - Ballet (pale pink), Lilac (purple-ish-blue), Flamingo (fuchsia), and Pacific (a vibrant blue). I'm not one for colorful streaks in my hair and it would be a challenge on black stands, but I can see how they'd enhance blonde hair.

This highly-pigmented color stick is a great temporary solution to roots and grays. Bumble and Bumble is my absolute favorite hair care brand - it's pricey, but worth it. You can purchase the Bb. Color Stick at Sephora.

Hydrate Your Skin

July 06, 2017

There are currently 496 moisturizers available at Sephora.com. Choosing a facial cream can be exhausting. You really have to know your specific needs (anti-aging, acne and blemishes, dryness..). You gotta research ingredients that are necessary to your needs, and start reading labels.
Customer reviews and personal beauty blog posts are an excellent way to narrow down your search. How many stars does the product get? What are 'real' people saying? I'm a self-declared product junkie and think these hydrating products are worth a mention..
This is intense hydration - Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream is a concentrated 30 percent hyaluronic acid cream. Hyaluronic acid is a potent hydrator that can retain up to 1000 times it's weight in water. If water was creamy- this would be it. It's so refreshing, and leaves your skin feeling silky and super-nourished. The non-greasy cream absorbs fairly quickly (a little goes a long way), and doesn't leave your skin shiny. Water Drench is the perfect hydrator during summer. I purchased this a few months ago and couldn't stop applying it during the first week (2-3 times a day). It's addictive. I use the moisturizer when I plan to go bare, cause it's not thick enough to prime my skin for makeup.

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics has been my go-to brand for years. The Hydrating Face Cream and Vitamin Enriched Face Base are two of my favorite BB products. The Hydrating Face Cream absorbs nicely, plumps your skin, and creates the perfect base for makeup. This lightweight formula has a refreshing, masculine scent that diminishes quickly. It's also enriched with mineral water. I'm addicted to water (really) - I consume two to three liters a day. On the subject of anti-aging, water is your best friend.
The Vitamin Enriched Face Base is an oil-free primer and moisturizer. Like the Hydrating Face Cream, this product hydrates and plumps your skin. It's much thicker than the Hydrating Face Cream and has a light, citrus scent. I use the Vitamin Enriched Face Base if I need super-nourishing, and plan to pile on the makeup.

I love this brand - so does everyone else. The oh so popular Glossier brand prides themselves on a no-makeup-makeup kinda look - a natural girl who doesn't fuss over perfection. Don't we all wanna be that girl?
Glossier Priming Moisturizer and Priming Moisturizer Rich hydrate and prime your skin for makeup (or not). Priming products simply nourish and plump your skin, giving you a healthier look, and preparing your face for easy makeup application. The Priming Moisturizer contains Hyaluronic Acid, Mushroom Super Hydrator and Vitamins A, C and E. This lightweight formula is buildable and has a 'cream' scent. There's something to be said for products in tubes - you can really get down to the last dollop.
The Priming Moisturizer Rich is much thicker and ideal for bedtime. It contains Red Algae Complex, Ceramides (oily waxes), Fatty Acids, Murumuru Butter, and Lavender Oil (could do without this scent). Like the Priming Moisturizer, this formula contains an anti-redness complex (I need that), and Oxygenating Agent. This is a 'luxurious face cream'.

Hydrate Your Hair

July 03, 2017

Sunshine, pool water, salt water.. Your hair needs extra hydration during the summer months. My hair was damaged beyond repair last summer (botched dye job). I consider myself an expert on hydrating hair masks. These are my favorite super hydrators..

IGK Prenup Instant Spray Hair Mask is AMAZING! The 360 aerosol spray allows for easy application. The scent is delicious, and your hair will feel nourished and silky after just one minute. I use this mask every time I wash my strands. Give your hair a good scrub, apply conditioner and rinse immediately, then apply the Prenup hair splash mask, leave for minute and rinse. This hydrating hair mask is a MUST HAVE!

Bumble and Bumble is the Balm-To-Oil Pre-Shampoo Masque saved my hair, and is worth a second mention. Take a big dollop, rub your hands together to melt the product and apply to dry hair, section by section (dry hair absorbs better than wet hair). Leave for a minimum of twenty minutes. This super hydrating masque contains the Hairdresser's Invisible Oil six signature oils - argon, macadamia nut, coconut, safflower seed, grape seed oil and sweet almond. The signature scent is subtle and sweet. I apply this masque once a week, and it has made a HUGE difference in my hair. I've been struggling with severely damaged hair for a year, and only saw a significant improvement after using this product.

I purchased Skinny & Co. Coconut Oil in the OH SO TEMPTING mini section at Sephora. The lineup at Sephora is a trap - you're surrounded by mini's that cost much more than the full-size products (based on cost per ounce). Admittedly, this is my favorite section at Sephora. I can no longer find Skinny & Co. Coconut Oil on Sephora's site, so I'm not sure if Sephora carries this product anymore. Hmm..

I love this stuff. It's a multi-purpose coconut oil that hydrates your hair and body. Like the Bumble and Bumble Balm-To-Oil Pre-Shampoo Masque, this product melts in your hands. Scoop out a big dollop, allow it to melt and apply to the ends of your hair. You can leave the oil on for as long as you want. The scent is ok (natural-like). You can use this oil to sweeten your beverages, replace your go-to cooking oil, and apply as a moisturizer to your hair and skin.

Latest Lip Loves

June 09, 2017

I'm addicted to lip balm and was so disappointed when Sephora discontinued the Kiss Me Balm - the little egg shaped balm came in a many colors, the scents were yummy and the product was amazing. So began my search for a new go-to balm.. Of course, I went with a Sephora lip balm hoping it would be similar to the Kiss Me Balm. The soothing Coconut Water Lip Balm is nice. The scent is delicious and the product feels nourishing on your lips. The balm is thicker than the Kiss Me Balm, but a similar texture. The packaging is less than what you would expect from Sephora. The turn-tube is made of plastic, and the coconut printed cover feels like card-stock. I'm not sure how the packaging would hold if it got wet (and am not gonna test it out).

Best part is the gains dissolve, and your lips are covered in a creamy, honey-scented balm. It tastes good too - not that you should eat it, but scrubs tend to get in your mouth. LOVE!

Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Double the Lip Lipstick Liner in One is innovative, and allows you to create fuller lips in one swipe. The teardrop shaped lipstick and liner in one combines two complimentary satin-finish shades - one is the liner and the other a lipstick. Just place the lipstick and liner in one flat on your lips, and apply them simultaneously. I find the contrast between the colors a bit too much, so I blend with my finger. The result is gorgeous. I purchased the full-sized Criminally Coral and received the Lusty Rose travel-sized as a gift with purchase. The sandy-coral shade of Criminally Coral looks great on my pale skin (I'm a fan of coral) . I'm sure the Criminally Coral shade would look amazing on sun kissed skin. The neutral shade of Lusty Rose is a dark rose shade (not really my color). The lipstick and line run one feels nice, your lips appear fuller and there's no feathering. Definitely a New Lipstick 'LOVE'.

Oh and the Sephora Kiss Me Balm in Creme Brûlée (clear) appears to be temporarily back in stock, and it's on sale. I bought eight!

Benefit Mini Makeup Kits

May 09, 2017
I love Benefit cosmetics. The brand is fun, vibrant and ranks high on the 'favorite makeup brand' charts. Benefit Cosmetics Makeup Kits are the prefect way to try the brands best sellers and get a cute little makeup pouch. I purchased the 'Sunday My Prince Will Come Easy Weekender Kit' and 'Date Night With Mr. Right Sexy Night Out Makeup Kit' (the names are so fun). The products pictured here are from both kits - I only kept my favorite mini products and the pink pouch. There's also a Benefit Work Kit, Girl! Work-Day Essential Makeup kit. Each Benefit Cosmetics kit comes with four mini's and a makeup bag.

My favorite Benefit products - Benefit Watt's Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter in Champagne is my favorite highlighter (and I've tried them all). The highlight is subtle and the perfect shade. The stick glides on nicely - apply to your check bones, the bridge of your nose and upper lip with a damp beauty blender. The full-sized product has a little sponge applicator on one end, but I prefer the beauty blender. Benefit High Beam is a satiny-pink liquid highlighter. I put a little in my moisturizer for a healthy glow. Benefit They're Real! Tinted primer in Mink Brown is the perfect primer for eyebrows and lashes. Apply the primer before mascara for a dramatic look, or alone for a 'no-makeup' kinda look. Benefit GALifornia Blush in Sunny Golden Pink looks amazing on sun-kissed skin. It's an orange-coral shade and the pigment is strong, so apply a little and layer.

The Benefit mini products are really small and perfect for your handbag or travel cosmetic bag. I love mini's! Each kit retails for $32 and are available at Sephora.

Babe Body Scrub

May 05, 2017
In preparation for self-tanning season (Imma faux-tan kinda girl), I've been sampling body scrubs. The verdict - Babe Green Tea Body Scrub is my favorite.  This body exfoliator has transformed my tired, 'winter' skin. The robust granules are tough on dry skin. You can really feel the aggressive scrub removing the dead, parched skin and you'll love how soft your skin feels after a few applications (even those little bumps on the back of your arms will slightly diminish). WARNING - this stuff is aggressive, so if your skin is sensitive, I don't recommend using Babe Body Scrub. I used the entire bag (everyday) for week and now I can't live without it.

The Green Tea scent is refreshing. I used Babe Body Scrub Pink Salt as well, but didn't love the smell. Babe Green Tea Body Scrub doesn't leave your skin feeling oily, but just refreshed and smooth. The resealable bag is convenient, cause you can dump some product into your hand and exfoliate your skin by section. I also use this scrub on my feet after a pedicure - amazing results (yes, I do my own pedicures). There's also a coffee scrub that is supposedly good for cellulite. I think the three scrubs do the same thing, but smell different. Caffeine-infused salts are not going to diminish cellulite!

I really like this body scrub and will definitely repurchase. Babe Green Tea Body Scrub is available at Sephora.

Luxury Hairstyling

April 28, 2017

Luxury hairstyling brand, IGK, was founded by in-demand stylists from Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. YOU GOTTA VIEW THESE GUYS ONLINE! These stylists are really fascinating and their individual styles are so intriguing. I'd fly across the country and break the bank to get an appointment with any of these stylists - maybe Aaron, Franck, Chase or Leo can recommend a solution for my 'forevermore' damaged bob. Yeah, I tried to go blonde last June and am still suffering the consequences.

This modern product line has something for every hair trend. My hair is damaged, so I can't experiment with hair products too much. I try and stick to nourishing products, but I do spritz on a little dry shampoo or dirty spray once in a while. When I get my healthy, silky stands back, I'm gonna indulge in all the IGK products.

My favorite aspect to this brand - the scents. I love the NYC scent of Smoke & Mirror Conditioning Cleansing Oil. I only wash my hair twice a week, and I feel like this cleansing oil doesn't get the three-day grit off my hair - but if I had to do an in-between wash, this would be my go-to product. For anyone that washes daily, I recommend swapping your shampoo for Smoke & Mirror Cleansing Conditioning Oil every other day. Did I mention that it smells amazing?!

The Down & Out Dirty Spray is a great styling product. I have a bob (well kinda) - more like a damaged shag! This spray adds texture and volume. The only downside is that my hair has to be washed the next day. My hair looks really greasy and dirty the morning after applying it. I love this product, but just gotta plan the application prior to a wash. The Dirty & Out spray also comes in a travel size.

The Prenup Instant Spray Hair Mask is my favorite. The LA scent is sweet and soft. The application is easy - wash your hair, apply the product (it's a 360 aerosol spray), wait a minute and rinse. Your hair will feel so soft and nourished. If this mask can combat my dry, damaged hair, it will do wonders for the average mane. I LOVE this product.

The Jet Lag Invisible Shampoo works great to soak up the oil and create volume, but I'm hesitant to use anything that has 'dry' in the label too often. The scent is nice, but a little strong. I'd prefer this product to smell like the Prenup instant spray hair mask.

The Laid-Back Defrizz and Anti-Static Spray has dropped from heaven and answered my hair-static prayers. If you have fine hair, you know static can be super f**king annoying. I used to use Static Guard (yes, the anti-static material spray) on my hair to combat static, but am happy to have a 'hair' styling product replacement. The MIA scent is sweet and subtle. I LOVE this product.

Yeah, these products are expensive, but worth it. There's 24+ IGK hair styling products, including styling, shampoo and conditioners. You can purchase IGK luxury hairstyling products at Sephora.

'On A Budget' Gifts For HER

December 02, 2016

I've comprised a small list of 'on a budget' gifts for her. These trending products are all AMAZING! Gift them alone, mix-and-match, or create the ultimate stocking for the girl who's obsessed with cosmetics.

Sugarbearhair is no different than any other 'healthy hair' vitamin as far as ingredients go. These little chewy bears are taking over Instagram simply cause they're cute, and the vibrant color looks great in photos. These mini turquoise bears are fun and taste yummy (like eating gummy bears). Most of us have 'hair struggles' and would appreciate berry flavored gummies that promote healthy hair. One jar (60 bears) retails for $29.99.

I've been raving about Glossier products for the last few weeks and Balm Dotcom (the universal skin salve) is my favorite. The dense salve is perfect for any and every dry patch on your skin. Apply to your nails, face, body.. There are five to choose from and retail for $12.

It's Skin Cookie Body Ice Cream is AMAZING! The mint, original and strawberry flavors smell just like (JUST LIKE) ice cream. This body ice cream is lighter than a body butter, but thicker than body cream. The soft cookie chip pieces melt upon application and add to the 'ice cream effect'. Each 2.7 oz pot (small enough for travel) retails for $10 at Sephora. LOVE!

MILK Makeup Limited Edition Triple Threat Glow Set contains three travel size, best selling products. The mini Face Mist contains rice and ginger water that calm and nourish skin. The Sunshine Oil comes in a little rollerball pen - perfect purse/travel size. Body and face oil are essential during the cold season. And.. my favorite is the super tiny Highlighter Cream Stick. The color is universally flattering and brightens your skin for the perfect highlight. This mini highlighter is a great travel replacement for my Benefit Watt's Up! Cream to Powder Highlighter (you all know this one). These three mini's come in a plastic box, retail for $30 and will make just about anyone happy!

Most people who wear makeup, own a beautyblender® makeup sponge (or some other brand). If not, GO GET ONE! Another innovative product by beautyblender® is the liner.designer. The triple-edged eyeliner guide works with all eyeliner formulas to create the perfect look. It's like eyeliner application for dummies. The silicon guide comes with a mini plastic case and suction cup (not sure why theres a suction cup?). liner.designer retails for $16 and is available in pink or clear.

There ya have it! The ultimate gifts under $30 for the product junkie(s) in your life.

Brightening, Setting, Retouching..

November 09, 2016
Brightening, Setting, Retouching.. And this is after you've applied foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush.. As I age, my multitude of skin issues are more apparent and that means more product. Often, too much has the adverse effect and you end up looking like a art project gone wrong, but setting powders are a necessary step to perfect makeup.

After applying topical medication (rosacea), serums, moisturizer, corrective creams, and sometimes foundation, my face is rather shiny. Thanks to my 'angry', combination skin, I'm having to deal with an oily complexion too. Bobbi Brown White Skin Correcting Powder is meant to 'brighten and illuminate' fair skin tones, but I use it to slightly mattify my look. It's the last step in my makeup routine, but if I'm having one of those 'dry' days, the powder will magnify my dehydrated skin. Decisions - oily or flakey?

I apply Bobbi Brown Skin Correcting Powder in peach to add a little warmth to my complexion. Focusing my cheeks, this subtle shade looks great on my super-fair skin. I don't feel like either of these retouching powders are drastically enhancing my makeup, but Bobbi Brown is about subtlety!

Move over BB, there's newbies in the Cosmocube! Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder is like magic fairy dust. The transparent powder is formulated with light-reflecting micronized pigments that illuminate your under eye area, while setting your concealer. Apply concealer, blend with a damp beautyblender, be sure there's no creasing, dab your damp makeup sponge into the powder and lightly pat it onto your under eye area. Too much is ok - it will settle and you can sweep off the excess product in a few. AMAZING results! My concealer is set, theres little-to-no creasing and my under eye area appears significantly brighter. LOVE!

The mint green tint of Laura Mercier Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder tones down redness (I NEED THAT), while reducing shine. The 'Shine Control Complex' gives you a shine-free, fresh, mate finish - a much needed addition to my cosmetic bag for on-the-go touchups. While we're on the topic of green - Sephora Collection Bright Future Color Correctors are super light and great for combating discoloration, blemishes.. I use the green shade to neutralize the redness on my nose. The formula is lightweight and blends nicely.

Sephora Favorites

November 05, 2016
I am a self-declared product junkie and I LOVE Sephora Favorites. These boxes are a great way to try new cosmetics without spending dollars on full-sized products. Oh, but I would pay full-price for some of these mini's (major 'mini' product junkie)!

Honestly, I don't have time to try every product in these boxes and if I did my skin and hair would most likely get super angry and lash out in flakes and frizz. There's only so much you can put on your face and a multitude of products doesn't promote healthy skin. I choose boxes that have a few products I intend to try and then share the others. An excellent gift idea for the holidays - buy three to four boxes, split up the products amongst your friends, arrange in small Sephora bags, tie a ribbon and everyone will love you.

Back to my mini product addiction. I prefer little products, cause I can pack tons of shit in my cosmetic bag without compromising and they fit in my Cosmocube nicely. And.. you're getting great value for your dollar. The Glow For It box has six products for $30 ($6 each). Not bad considering the full-sized Benefit Watts Up! Cream-to-Powder highlighter retails for $30. Multiple mini's for the cost of one full-sized. I never finish full-sized products before they expire anyway - there's always something new to try.

I'm obsessed with Kiss Me Balm by Sephora, and am super bummed that they discontinued it. Yeah, I stocked up before they sold out, but I've been on a mission to find a new favorite. Just posted and already out of stock, the Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint is AMAZING (and officially my new favorite). The barely-there color blends with your natural lip color and gives a subtle pink shade that enhances your own lips. The creamy texture goes on nicely and nourishes your lips. I like the packaging - the tube is a bit smaller than the average lipstick and the pearl white case is chic.

Anytime the conversation of best lip enhancers comes up, I'm shouting TOO FACED LIP INJECTION EXTREME from the rooftop! This lip plumper will give you the ultimate pouty lip. Lip Injection Extreme isn't new, but now there's a mini version (LOVE).

The Sephora Lip Color Lip Last Lipstick in Oh My Beige! and Sephora Rouge Gel Lip Liner in The Nudest are a match made in nude lips heaven. The gel-cream texture of the liner glides on smoothly and the nude shade matches my lips perfectly. The liner is retractable, so no sharpening and no shavings. The Lip Last Lipstick is oh so creamy. The color is a bit lighter than I'd like, but combined with 'The Nudest' lip liner create the perfect nude lip shade. Strawberry Short Cake is back and channeling her scent through Lip Last Lipsticks! The scent is amazing (and addictive). It really does smell like my favorite childhood doll. I will definitely purchase more Lip Last Lipsticks and Gel Lip Liners..

There's no Milk in 'MILK Makeup'

October 14, 2016
MILK - 'for the girls who spend less time getting done up and more time getting stuff done'. Umm ok! Seems like the MILK makeup line would require just as much time as any other to apply, but they're trying to market a certain girl and well, I'm not gonna argue their 'new take on makeup'.

These sticks are, for lack of a better phrase, kinda fun. They're like little deodorant sticks packed with natural ingredients to hydrate and highlight. I gotta admit, the Holographic Stick and Highlighter are a bit to 'hyper' for my facial complexion, but they are great for highlighting other parts of the body. I use the Hydrating Oil Stick all over my legs and then apply the highlighter for a little color and glow. Shimmery legs appear longer and reflect light nicely in photos. For 'intense' highlighting, the holographic stick leaves a lavender-like hue of micro sparkle on your skin (not my favorite). I'm a little too old for purple highlights!

I love the Hydrating Oil Stick - I'm finding new ways to use it everyday. Aside from applying to my legs (super easy application), I also use the oil in the inner corner of my eyes. This area is a problem for me and is always dry?? After I have finished my makeup application, I hold my finger on the oil stick until it warms and then gently apply a little to the inner corner of my eyes. AMAZING results!

I was most excited to purchase the Cooling Water - I think it's the first stick I purchased (the others quickly followed). I was expecting big results from this stick and am kinda disappointed. While the cooling sensation (make sure to keep refrigerated or put on ice for 5) was nice, the solution didn't seem to have a big affect on my puffy eyes. The formula does glide on much easier when warm, but after cooling, application is harder and stretches your skin while you glide the stick around your eyes. Never stretch your under-eye area - gravity and age will cause enough damage, you don't need to add to this problem area. Mind you, I did wait until I had major under-eye baggage to try the Cooling Water. There are many other uses for this product, but I haven't got around to exploring them. I purchased this stick for my under-eyes and am not sure I would apply to other areas of my face for hydration and circulation - I have other products for that! The stick is still in my fridge and if I'm perusing the food selection, I might (and have) smear a little around my area for the cooling sensation..

The photos taken above show the highlighting effect of the Holographic Stick, Highlighter, and Hydrating Oil Stick. Yes, I separated the swatches, but they were all on my arm for the photo (same time, same lighting).

Highlighting Powder

October 05, 2016
Six months ago, I was anti-sparkle, but since discovering the benefits of highlighting my face, I'm officially addicted. My highlighting products are growing faster than anything else in my CosmoCube (best makeup organizer).

After applying foundation, I apply Benefit Watt's Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter down the bridge of my nose, on my cheekbones, cupid's bow (to make your lips appear bigger) and blend with a damp beautyblender and a little Farsali Rose Gold Elixir. Then I apply setting powder, blush, maybe bronzer and all-over illuminating powder. All those powders on top of the Watt's Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter will lessen the illuminating effect and using a damp (oily) sponge to apply more is a no-no for me (I'm oily enough and gotta hold back on the Elixir). In enters my new favorite cosmetic - highlighting 'powder'.

Of course, I opted for my favorite cosmetic brand! The Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Pink Glow is perfect for a little extra light-reflective glow. The pink highlights are nice on pale skin tones and the effect is subtle (if applied lightly). I use the Sephora Pro Fan Brush #65 to little dust the highlighter on my check bones. For more precise application on my nose and cupid's bow, I use the Bobbi Brown Eye Sweep brush - it's more dense and allows you to apply more product. If you want a high-impact glow, apply a little Farsali Rose Gold Elixir to your cheekbones, bridge of your nose and cupids bow, then lightly apply Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder - super glow! I LOVE this highlighting powder.

Purifying Nose Strips

October 03, 2016
The facial feature people focus on most is your mouth and just north of your pearly whites is your nose - noticeable from most angles and usually crammed with impurities and closed pores, this part of your face can be annoying to keep blackhead free. I know people do suffer from blackheads on other parts of the face, and even the body - luckily I only get them on my nose. Blackhead removing strips are a great way to remove those yucky blackheads, reduce excess oil and reduce the appearance of pores.

Sephora Charcoal Nose Strips are a new product from their facial/body masks line. These anti-blackhead nose strips are enriched with charcoal - known for powerful absorption and cleansing. These strips retail for $3 each (just one strip). The Bocsia Black Strips retail for $28/2.33 per strip (12 nose strips). I wanted to like the Sephora strips, but was disappointed with the results. The strips have an unpleasant chemical scent. I think the goal was to make them smell fresh, but it's too strong and not nice. The strips went on easily, but after 20 minutes of drying, I pulled off the strip and was left with globs of black glue-like stuff on my face (pictured here).

Boscia Pore Purifying Black Strips are my favorite. Like Sephora Charcoal Nose Strips, Boscia Black Strips contain charcoal that draws out impurities. These detoxifying strips are easy to apply - cleanse face, wet your nose, place the strip across your nose, press (I like to wet the strip for extra contouring around my nose), wait 15-20 minutes and peel off from the outer-corners in. These strips are odor free and get the job done.

I've also tried Nivea Clear-up Strips in the past and they too have an intense smell. Dear cosmetic companies, nobody wants a sheet of perfume sitting their nose for 15 minutes. While Nivea does have nose, chin and t-zone strips in one box (excellent idea), the scent is too much for me.

Beauty's Besties

September 26, 2016
I already have a blotterazzi and many beauty blenders, but I couldn't resist the beautyblender + Too Faced holiday kit. I'm like a deer in headlights when it comes to light pink! I love this set, especially the mini highlighting compact by Too Faced.

I'm lovin' the light pink original beautyblender. Good to know - wash your beautyblender prior to the first use and after each makeup application, and always wet your beautyblender before applying makeup - I wet my beautyblender in water, squeeze out excess water and then apply a few drops of oil (Farsali Rose Gold Elixir is amazing).

The blotterazzi compact is super cute and the teardrop shaped makeup sponges are more subtle than the original bright fuchsia blotterazzi. The blotterazzi is a reusable oil absorbing sponge. There are two pink sponges inside the plastic mirrored compact. The water drop shaped compact has a vent at the back and a clear, hygienic separator to keep the sponges fresh. The unique shape (a flat version of the beautyblender) allows you to blot the contours of your face with ease while removing excess oil.

The Too Faced Candlelight Glow highlighting powder duo comes in a small custom-designed compact. The Rosy Glow highlighting powder diffuses light, creating a subtle glow. Apply to your cheekbones, nose and brow line for a lit-from-within look. This mini Candlelight Glow compact is perfect for on-the-go touchups and travel.

VIB Rouge

September 12, 2016
I usually ignore emails from Sephora and most other brands. The constant parade of 'new arrivals' emails can be annoying. I KNOW, I should just unsubscribe, but maybe I'll be in the mood for a looksie, or if I'm lucky there's a discount in there?! Since learning about Sephora's Beauty Insider Rewards Bazaar (I'll come back to that), I'm anxiously waiting for notifications from Sephora ..and it was my new fondness for Sephora emails that led me to a VIB Rouge in-store event. Perks - facials, makeovers, 4X the points and a gift with purchase. While I thought the event would be a little more extravagant, it was fun to stock my basket with all the stuff I'd been eyeing since the invite, and get 4X the points. The Georgetown location offered snacks and beverages and the staff were super friendly. I didn't indulge in the makeover/facials (I hate people touching my face), but I'd imagine it was fun for the other ladies. Sephora's VIB program reigns supreme - you get gifts, points for additional gifts, invitations to events...

Sephora's Beauty Insider Rewards Bazaar is long overdue. Not sure if its just VIB Rouge or all VIB's? Every Tuesday and Thursday, new AMAZING rewards are available for 100 - 20000+ points (no purchase necessary). I have a ridiculous amount of points, and am super excited about the new program. Will let ya know if I snag any exceptional gifts.

Sephora Sheet Masks

August 11, 2016
I'm dedicated to trying each mask in the Sephora collection. I really like the natural fiber eye masks and the line has expanded to include a lip masks, face masks, hand masks and a foot mask (I'm excited about that one). Yesterday was 'mask' day..

The Shea lip mask is a jelly-like, lip shaped mask that fits over the lips. The mask has an opening, so you can breathe easily and I guess talk if you had to. The texture is super strange and it does tingle a little. The mask is over-sized - anyone with lips that big, should really ease up on the fillers! The Shea lip mask is said to nourish and moisturize in 15 minutes. You can wear it sitting, standing, walking around, and it doesn't slide or drip. After 15 minutes, I removed the mask, wiped the access from my skin and left the remaining on my lips. DO NOT LICK YOUR LIPS - it doesn't taste good. Post application your lips feel a little sticky, but they appear moisturized. Jelly-like feeling aside, I like it. I'm definitely gonna repurchase during the cold season, when my lips are dry and chapped.

The Orchid eye mask scent is subtle and lovely (like a flower). My rosacea didn't flare up, but I had a little irritation around the outer edge. It's common for my skin to react to products. My under eye felt a little tighter, but I didn't see dramatic results from the one-time use. The Orchid eye mask is for anit-aging and smoothing, and like any anti-aging product, you need to use it for months, before you'll see any great results.

The hand masks are fun and my favorite. There are two, non-drip hand gloves in a pack. When you open the packet, you'll notice the gloves are attached - tear at the perforated line, put them on, and pull the tabs around your wrist to seal in the moisturizing treatment. The inside has a fiber lining drenched in solution and the outside a plastic lining. Best thing about these masks is you can go about your business while wearing them (I vacuumed my house). The Aloe Vera hand mask is for ultra-moisturizing and beautifying (beautifying?). The fresh scent is amazing and the concept of a moisturizing glove is great. After use, my cuticles appeared nourished and my hands felt soft. I will repurchase and can't wait to try the foot mask.

Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Twisty Tail Mascara is definitely 'too cool'. This multitasking mascara allows you to adjust the curve of the brush head to suit your eye-enhancing needs. Skincare To Go

May 13, 2016
I purchased Bobbi's Skincare On The Fly set in the Sephora 'Check-out trap'. You know, where they sell mini versions of all our favorite cosmetics at exuberant prices - I love that section! I always find great little products and kits while waiting my turn in the line. What starts out as 'I made it under budget' quickly becomes 'oh shit! How did that happen?'

I have been using Bobbi Brown makeup for years; it's practically all I use. After recently dabbling into the Bobbi Brown skincare line (the Miraculous Makeover Mask Trio), I decided I'm loving this stuff and gotta see what else there is. This Skincare On The Go kit is excellent! I was hesitant to wash my face with cleansing 'oil', but after a week of no pimples or extra oily skin, I'm hooked. The smell is refreshing, and your skin feels super soft. The Hydrating Eye Cream and Face Cream are amazing too. They have a creamy-jelly texture that absorbs quickly and leaves your skin bright and plumped. These creams are excellent under makeup. They create the perfect, nourished canvas for better makeup application and an even look. The Hydrating Face Cream quickly became my favorite. I've already purchased the full-size face cream (pictured above) and plan to buy the Cleansing Oil in the near future.

Bobbi Brown sets are a great way to try a number of products, at a fraction of the cost. If you don't like them or they disagree with your skin, you didn't invest 'too' much money. If you like the products, even better, cause now you have mini versions for travel.

The 'creamy body wash pods' wall at Sephora on Champs-Elysées in Paris is worth the visit. It reminds me of a candy store, but for cosmetic addicts! Each pod contains 7.9 ml of body wash; enough for one shower and perfect for travel. Just crack the tip and enjoy the delicious scents. How cute is Sephora's Brow Aid kit - set of three mini brow tools! At half the size of full-sized tweezers, these little shaping tools take 'mini' to a whole new level. This set includes everything you need to groom your brows on-the-go: the mini slant tweezers, an angled shaping and defining brush, and the brow spoolie come in a thin, clear pouch (perfect travel size). I carry the brow spoolie in my purse (just in case my brows get outta hand). These miniature tools work just as well as your full-sized brow tools. LOVE!

Perfecting & Brightening

April 04, 2016
Last month I posted the Pomegranate Eye Mask and said I'd try other Sephora eye masks and let ya know what I thought.. I recently used the Sephora Perfecting & Brightening eye mask. Unlike the first eye mask I tried in this collection, this mask did not irritate my rosacea. Everything bothers my skin, so I'm happy when I find products that don't turn my face bright red! This white pearl infused mask claims to illuminate your skin - not sure my under eyes appear brighter (it's gonna take more than a fifteen minute mask to fix my under eye problems), but my skin feels and looks nourished. I'm happy with the results.

Application is easy, the masks wraps around your under eye area and up to your brows (good coverage) and the serum-like solution doesn't run down your face. The Pomegranate eye masks had a subtle, refreshing scent. This mask however had a funny smell - not bad, but not pleasant. I have six more masks to go..

Express Dry Your Polish?

March 11, 2016
Sephora Express Dry nail drying spray claims to dry nails in one minute. First and foremost, I purchased this spray in Europe and there are no english directions on the bottle? I translated the directions off sephora.fr (France) and determined the application process. After three coats of polish, I applied the spray liberally (from 30 cm away) and waited a few minutes. My nails were still tacky after five minutes. My KOH Essential Nail Serum dries them in no time, so I was disappointed to find that this 'nail drying' product didn't meet my expectations.

Pomegranate Eye Mask

March 04, 2016
There are eight masks in Sephora's eye mask line; each with different skin benefits. The pomegranate eye mask awakens and tones the under eye area, while reducing signs of fatigue. My 'vacation diet' (too much salt and vino), has left my eyes puffy and tired looking, so I purchased the pomegranate eye mask and used it this morning. The packaging is nice and the application easy. There is a lot of serum on each mask, so I gently squeezed a little off - otherwise it would be running down my face. The masks are a great shape and cover the under eye area, as well as around the outer side of your eye, all the way up to your brows. The mask stayed put and felt very refreshing. There is a subtle scent of pomegranate (love that scent). After 15 minutes, I removed the masks and gently rubbed the remaining serum onto my skin. There was a lot of serum left in the packet, so I applied a little more to my under eye area and on my lids (I don't like to waste).

I have rosacea and while the mask did not have harsh effects on my under eye area (no rosacea there), my upper cheeks and the outer sides of of eyes turned very red and slightly burned. It is not uncommon for my skin to react to cosmetics, so I don't see this reaction as a bad thing. On a 'brighter' note, the pomegranate eye masks left my under eye area feeling tight and reduced the puffiness significantly. I will definitely purchase other masks in this line and post about them soon..

Bamboo Charcoal

February 01, 2016
Bamboo charcoal can be used for many things: purifying water, brushing your teeth, as well as cleansing your body, face and exfoliating. Bamboo charcoal has strong absorbing properties that draw toxins from your skin (hence the purifying water). It is said that cleansing with bamboo charcoal removes impurities from your skin, giving you a soft, improved appearance. I have been using the bamboo charcoal exfoliating body sponge by Sephora twice a week, for five weeks, and can't say I've seen any improvement. Yes, I feel like it's lightly exfoliating, but my body pouf provides the same sensation. Is it drawing toxins from my skin? I honestly don't know, but I can't see a difference in my skin. If you are a 'bamboo charcoal' believer, than maybe this product is for you, but I'm not jumping on the bamboo charcoal movement just yet.

I've read many reviews about the bamboo charcoal body sponge falling apart. It does say on the packaging that the sponge must be handled with care. This cleansing sponge is very delicate, so wrap your hand around one side while exfoliating your body in circular motions with the other side. Gently drain the sponge of access water by squeezing with both hands (do not twist). I have not experienced any breakage and my sponge is still completely intact.

Make Up For Ever

January 20, 2016
Make Up For Ever didn't interest me until I visited the Sephora in Downtown Montréal. The Make Up For Ever section is huge, intriguing and the lashes display to die for! I have a new addiction to falsies and have been trying all the major brands. Make Up For Ever false eye lashes are amazing, but we'll talk about that another day. Being that the lashes are great, I figured their other products are probably high quality as well - so, I went back and purchased the Make Up For Ever Sens'eyes waterproof sensitive eye cleanser and the Mist & Fix setting spray.

When I take off my false eye lashes, sometimes there's glue left on my lashes and lids and my longtime-favorite eye makeup remover doesn't get it off. I was hoping the Sens'eyes would do the job and it does! This oil-free, gel makeup remover is strong enough to remove waterproof makeup, so a little glue is not a problem. The directions say to apply the remover on a cotton pad and let the solution sit on your eyelids and lashes (do not rub), then gently wipe the eye makeup off. Unfortunately, it burns my lids, so I'm enclined to speed up the process and rub away.. This remover is a sensitive eye cleanser, but I guess my skin is 'overly'-sensitive. There is no visible irritation after using this product, so I'll finish the bottle.

Mist & Fix is a light weight makeup setting spray. I'll admit, I was hesitant to spray anything wet on my face after applying my makeup, but this non-greasy, non-sticky formula goes on nicely and dries instantly. It kinda has an unpleasant scent that diminishes quickly - I'm sensitive to smells and would discontinue use if it lingered. After misting my face, my makeup appeared more even and my dry, 'winter skin' looked hydrated and dewy (even a little oily). Now that I'm over my fear of makeup setting spray, I'm gonna try other brands before settling on my favorite.

Mini Kinda Mood

Sephora's Bounce: mini round thermal ceramic brush does everything your regular sized brush does AND fits in your purse! No sacrifice was made in the design of this mini hair brush - The ceramic coating retains heat and distributes it evenly onto your hair. The tourmaline-infused bristles assist in anti-frizz and add shine. Albeit, it takes a little longer to dry your hair with this mini brush, it gives great results. I love this little brush! I'm hoping Sephora will release a mini paddle brush in the near future. Sephora Bounce: mini round thermal brush retails for $12.

Strays Away

January 08, 2016
I'm all about mini's and admittedly often buy tiny stuff cause it's tiny! Sephora Strays Away mini tweezers are great. Each tweezer has a unique tip for all of your tweezing needs. The angled tip is ideal for regular tweezing, the flat tip allows for a good grip on thick hairs, the pointed tip is precise and the slanted-point tip is a two-in-one mini tweezer. These teeny tweezers are just under 2 inches long and take up little space in your cosmetic bag. This set of four is also great for someone deciding which tweezer tip they prefer, before purchasing a full-sized pair. Sephora Strays Away mini tweezers set retails for $10.

Empties

December 23, 2015
I am super high maintenance when it comes to facial cosmetics and insist on taking everything when I travel. If I packed full-sized containers, I'd need a second suitcase! Mini's and empties are my travel 'must haves'.

MAC stackable containers and Bobbi Brown empties are my favorite travel containers. MAC stackable jars are the best way to arrange all of your facial creams and serums. If you're like me and use up to seven creams a day, these mini containers will drastically minimize the size of your toiletry bag. These jars are kinda delicate, so be careful when screwing them onto each other. I find anti-aging creams and sunscreen have harsh effects on plastic, which causes them to break easily - makes me wonder what it's doing to my face! Bobbi Brown empties are made of thicker plastic with a screw-on cap that seals the jars and bottles; they will never leak. These empties are great for liquids and foundation. They can also withstand the harsh effects of strong anti-aging creams or sunscreens.

Shrink your toiletry bag with stackable's, mini's and travel containers. This is an investment you'll be happy you made.

Kiss Me balm by Sephora is my favorite lip nourishing treatment. The creamy balm is lightweight, hydrates your lips and protects them from harsh weather conditions. Each color has it's own scent and they all smell yummy. Clear smells like Creme Brûlée, light pink of cotton candy and the Christmas inspired balm like cherry. Gloss Wand

December 09, 2015
This six in one gloss wand is super cute and has a lot to offer. Standing two 'mini pots' higher than the average lip gloss size, this wand is great for on-the-go girls who like variety (I have four full-size lipgloss/lipsticks in my bag). These little jars of neutrals, peach, pinks, and a dark fuchsia gloss screw onto each other via the doe foot brush applicators. The slight hint of color is 'just enough' and they smell amazing. These glosses are a little sticky, but then again most lip gloss are! This slender gloss wand would make a great stocking stuffer for any girl into gloss.

Tweezerman Facial Hair Remover

October 27, 2015
Due to a hot wax burn many years ago, I have since done threading on my upper lip. It is painful and regrowth remains consistently the same. Sometimes, I forget to make an appointment or can't make it before an important date and always wished I could thread myself. I was excited to try the Tweezerman Smooth Finish Facial Hair Remover and am pleasantly surprised. I did hesitate for a minute or so - the stainless steel coil is intimidating. Yes, you can feel the little hairs being swiftly plucked, but the pain is not so bad (not as bad as threading). A great trick for upper lip hair removal is to press your tongue against the inside of your upper lip, so the skin is tight; this will minimize the pain. Press the straight part of the coil on either side against your skin for optimal results. Use both sides and hold the tool in different angles to ensure you remove as much as possible. Although I was not able to remove the tiniest of hairs (I'm a perfectionist), the obvious hair is gone and there is minimal skin irritation. The Tweezerman Facial Hair Remover claims to reduce re-growth, as it is pulling the hair along with the root. I have only tried once and cannot confirm this, but will repost after a few months. The directions are easy and removal process takes two minutes. Excellent tool!

Retails for $20 at Sephora.com and €27.95 at De Bijenkorf in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Superb Sephora Hair Accessories

August 19, 2015
The Sephora brand releases new products often and these three deserve a beauty post. The Sephora Push & Pop Travel Pop-up Brush is a multi-tasking purse size brush. This compact brush has a mirror and a clear compartment that holds up to three hair ties. All of your on-the-go hair needs are met with one little device. Sephora Collection Hair Ties are available in many colors - choose one to match your hair color and blend in perfectly or opt for a colorful, sparkly tie. These no-tug hair ties are comfy and won't leave a crease in your hair. Although they are not a new product, now and then Sephora introduces new colors. Sephora Collection Quick Fix: Hair Scrunchie was the first in my new scrunchie collection. The faux leather-like material holds hair firmly and will not leave a crease once removed. This scrunchie is small and suitable for short hair styles - it won't overwhelm your barely there ponytail.

Fashion Throwback

August 15, 2015
From 2013 runway shows to mainstream brands, this nineties scrunchie trend has been lingering for a while. I was never one for hair accessories, but I'm feeling nostalgic and admittedly started a scrunchie collection.

If you fear looking like your on our way to aerobics class, there are ways to modernize this accessory trend. Straight hair in a low ponytail is best with a large scrunchie. Those of us who don short do's, try a low bun (secure with elastic first) and use a small scrunchie, so the little hair you have still shows. If you maintained your long hair throughout the bob/lob phenomeon, then you have more scrunchie options - half up, half down, the traditional high pony in a large scrunchie (so nineties) and a top-knot bun held with a printed scrunchie. This is a trend to try - fun, flirty and everyone loves a throwback!

Pictured here: Brandy Melville Printed Scrunchies. Looking for something more subtle? Sephora Collection has a small, faux leather-like scrunchie available in black - perfect for shorter hair styles.

Want Longer, Thicker Lashes?

July 08, 2015
Many people comment on my eyelashes - I have been asked what falsies I was wearing more than once.. None, they're real! A quick application of LASHFOOD before bed and my lashes are thicker, longer and healthy. They appear hydrated and silky, my mascara goes on nicely, I never have to curl my lashes and they look smooth. I know - healthy lashes?! You can't go wrong adding nutrition to your lashes or any other part of your body, whether it's inside or out. LASHFOOD is comprised of organic medicinal herbs and there are no harsh side effects. I tried Latisse many years ago and my eyelids turned dark purple - I'm happy the permanent eyeshadow faded over time and caution anyone considering this lash growth method. LASHFOOD natural eyelash enhancer is Ecocert certified (meets standards for natural and organic cosmetics). I highly recommend this product.

You can purchase LASHFOOD at lashfood.com or sephora.com

ghd rose gold

May 25, 2015
This ghd styler had me at a moments glance - I luv anything rose gold! This set includes a 1" styler that is dual voltage (important for travelers), two sectioning clips, a heat resistant travel case and a detachable heat-resistant mat for placing your hot styler on. So far, I'm impressed..

I was drawn to this styler because it is dual voltage, it is award-winning, has positive reviews (and it is rose gold). Tried, tested and true - this styler is great! The ghd styler leaves my hair silky and straight. At a safe and effective temperature of 365°F, the ghd styler is not super hot and there is no option to increase the temperature - no temptation or even the ability to put the temp at max and cause damage to your hair.

You can purchase the ghd rose gold styler set at ghdhair.com and Sephora.com.

Texas Tea and Sake Bomb

May 12, 2015
I've been a dedicated fan of Bumble and Bumble shampoo and conditioner for years, but a few months ago I went on weekend trip and packed samples of Drybar hair products in my carry-on (simply because I was lacking space). I'm so happy I did! I always get samples from beauty stores and hardly ever use them.. this time paid off and I've learned my lesson - try new things! I have been converted and am using Drybar shampoo and conditioner, Texas Tea and Sake Bomb. Texas Tea volumizing shampoo and conditioner provide instant fullness without stripping your hair of moisture. Texas Teas gives you that much needed weightless bounce we all desire. Sake Bomb shampoo and conditioner are nourishing, have a pleasant scent and leaves your hair feeling incredibly silky and most importantly - shinny. I go back and forth between the two, depending on what my hair needs, moisture or volume.

Sake Bomb is available in travel size - the 1.7 oz bottle is flat and convenient when packing too many toiletries (as I often do). Purchase these and other Drybar products at thedrybar.com or Sephora.com

*Both Sake Bomb and Texas Tea shampoo and conditioner are free of sulfates, parabens and phthalates.

Are you applying dry shampoo correctly?

March 17, 2015
I recently read an article about the misuse of dry shampoo (I can't recall where I read it though). As do many of you, I applied dry shampoo in the morning when my hair was oily and immediately brushed it through. I've learned that you should apply dry shampoo at your roots before bed - this will allow time for the dry shampoo to combat the oil while you sleep and in the a.m. your hair will look fresh (as fresh as it can be with dry shampoo). This method works great - the results are fresh hair, no oil and less of the heavy residue feel you get with applying in the morning.

I use Bumble and Bumble prêt-á-powder at night - it's too heavy for daily morning use, but a great sleep-on-it dry shampoo. This dry shampoo smells great, the powder is light and blends fairly quickly. Prêt-á-powder is available at www.bumbleandbumble.com and Sephora.

Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-In-Oil

February 12, 2015
Coriander fruit oil, possiflora edulis oil, apricot kernel oil and jojoba seed oil are natural nourishing ingredients that make Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-In-Oil a super hydrating lip gloss. The soft, curved applicator hugs your lips and allows for easy application. Volupté Tint-In-Oil comes in eight subtle colors (really subtle - barely there colors). Oh and the scent is pleasant, sweet and floral. The gloss is light, non-sticky and "really" nourishes your lips. Oil is our friend ladies - this gloss will sooth and revive your dry lips within days.

Anastasia Brow Tools

January 30, 2015
These are the best tweezers! Anastasia Beverly Hills Tweezers are stainless steel with a slanted top for precision tweezing and plucking even the smallest hairs. I've tried a lot of tweezers over the years; why are tweezers great in the beginning and then one day they just don't work anymore? It's for this reason, that I keep buying new tweezers and trying new brands. Thankfully I stumbled upon this brand and now I'm hooked on Anastasia Beverly Hills brow tools. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Duo Angled/Spooley 7 brush is perfect for travel. The angled brush is great for filling in your brows with shadow and the spooley brush for creating the perfect brow shape. The dual-ended brush is super small and great for on the go. This is the ultimate brow tools duo!

Sephora Ultimate Oil-in-Gel Lipstick Remover quickly removes lipstick and lip stains without harsh rubbing. This product is excellent! I wear lip stains often and usually the red and pink stain is still visible days later despite my efforts to scrub it off. This oil-in-gel lipstick remover immediately erases lip color, leaving your lips soft and clean.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine is my new favorite lipstick. The colors are vibrant, slightly shiny and the creamy lipstick allows for easy application. Most importantly, this lipstick doesn't dry your lips. I luv the lipstick casing design - it's unique, pretty and what attracted me to this product.

I know I keep talking about Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish, but it's because this product is amazing. This styling spray adds texture and volume to hair, smells good and comes in a mini purse size for on-the-go touchups. Trust me - you will luv this product.

Bumble and Bumble All-Style Blowdry - This styling product has micro oil-absorbing powders that extend the life of your blow-dry by one day (maybe even two). It adds volume, smells great and leaves your hair feeling clean and fresh.

Givenchy Mister Perfect Instant Makeup Eraser is a makeup removing marker that allows you to correct mistakes on your lips and eyes. No more struggling with q-tips...this remover has a slanted tip for precision removal.

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow adds color and makes your eyebrows appear thicker. I usually fill-in my eyebrows with a dark eyeshadow and will most likely continue this method for full-makeup looks, but for day to day I'm using Gimme Brow.

Congratulations on your b.a.gorgie beauty product awards!

In Search of a Dry Shampoo?

January 07, 2015
I have a favorite dry shampoo that I've used for years, but I'm always open to try new products...here's my opinion on "best dry shampoo products" (as per a handful of magazines). Oh and I included two of my own choices, cause I think they reign the dry shampoo arena and deserve mention.

Bumble and Bumble Prêt-à-Powder does the job, the scent is nice and it gives great volume. For those of you that have thin hair, this product will give you that much needed boost. Downside - I have black hair (dyed) and the Bumble and Bumble Prêt-a-Powder is hard to work through my hair and ensure no visible powder. Great product for styling, volume and a night out, but may leave residue and kinda heavy for daily use.

Alterna Cleanse Extend Dry Shampoo - I can't get passed the strong scent; it was unbearable!

Simply Smooth Xtend Between Dry Shampoo smells fruity and sweet - luv the scent. Simply Smooth's spray dry shampoo does give your hair a slight sheen, which is great for those of us with dark hair. This product leaves no residue and gets the job done, but so do most dry shampoo's! It's ok, but I'm not in awe of the results.

Detox Dry Shampoo is all the fuss in magazines and don't see the appeal. The scent is very strong and smells old-ladyish. This product also leaves residue and feels heavy in your hair.

Sephora Express Dry Shampoo is still my favorite. It smells ok (a little too floral for my taste), but it dissipates quickly. It leaves no residue, gives you volume and you can layer the product depending on how much you need without weighing your hair down. Best part is it retails for $9 at Sephora.

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish isn't really a dry shampoo, but I thought I'd throw it in the mix, because it's a great styling product that gives similar results. I often use dry shampoo for volume and texture and that's exactly what this product is meant to do. Dryspun Finish doesn't absorb oil, but will assist you in creating a textured, voluminous look. Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dry Spun Finish is my latest prized product.

Perfect Product Combination - Bob (or Lob) Hairstyle

December 17, 2014
I cut my hair short a few months ago and seriously struggled to adapt to my new do. I had long straight hair that required little styling and virtually no product (except oil) - My new style is the polar opposite! Don't get me wrong, I luv my bob cut, but there is a major adjustment period. If you are thinking about jumping on the short hair trend-wagon, do it! Short hair is modern, versatile, and youthful.

href="http://www.bumbleandbumble.com/index.tmpl#1">Bumble and Bumble to the rescue. I'm obsessed with this product line and of course my new bob cut product combination consists of Bumble and Bumble products. I tried many brands over the last few months, a plethora of products in my hair and I have come up with the best bob or "lob" product combination.

Step one: Bumble and Bumble Thickening Full Form Mousse. Apply to wet hair and focus on your crown for volume. Randomly blow-dry your hair - you're going for a wind-blown look.

Step two: Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish. Once your hair is dry, spray Dryspun Finish onto your crown for more lift and sparingly throughout your hair to add thickness.

Step Three: Bumble and Bumble Cityswept Finish. My Favorite! This is your bob or "lob" cuts new best friend. Lift your hair and as it falls spray Cityswept Finish in swift motions. Use your fingers to separate and Voila! You have the perfect effortless, wind-blown look.

Optional: Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray. Perfect for waves and loose curls. It is light and manageable.

*Many Bumble and Bumble products come in travel sizes, so you can experiment with these products for a fraction of the cost. Visit www.bumbleandbumble.com and Sephora for the complete product line.

Beauty Samples

November 05, 2014
Take advantage of beauty sample programs - it's a great way to try new products at no cost. Most stores that sell cosmetics offer samples and if they don't, ASK! I'm sure they have samples hidden behind the counter. Sephora has a great sample program. Sign-up to become a Sephora Beauty Insider and based on how much you spend throughout the year you may graduate to VIB or VIB Rouge. Each level grants you gifts, samples, promotions and beauty classes. Of course, the higher the level, the more rewards you will receive. You can also use your points to purchase gift sets comprised of deluxe samples from high-end brands.

Not interested in trying new (random) products - collect the samples anyway and make little beauty gift bags for your friends. They will luv it!

Dior Blush in Coral Cruise

August 04, 2014
Dior blush vibrant color powder in coral cruise paired with a coral lipstick or gloss gives you a subtle summery look. Gently apply a small amount for a natural look, or layer for a dramatic effect. Although Dior blush comes with an angled brush for precise application, I prefer to use a traditional blush brush. I find that a larger round blush brush allows for perfect coverage on the apples of my cheeks, without overdoing it. I often find blush separates on my face after a few hours (because my skin is so oily), but this blush stays put all day. I have purchased a variety of Dior makeup products in the last few months and I gotta say - I have yet to be disappointed!

Coral colors look great on tanned skin and in combination with little or no makeup leaves your face looking fresh and pretty. You can purchase Dior blush vibrant color powder at Sephora. It is currently available in eight colors and retails for $42.

Dior Lip

June 23, 2014
There's a reason this makeup product line is called Addict; it's addictive! Dior Addict Lip Glow is by far the best lip balm I have tried. It nourishes your lips and gives you a subtle pink color. Lip Glow is great for everyday use.

The Dior Addict Lip Polish has a round applicator that roles across your lips, exfoliates and leaves your lips glowing. It moisturizes and feels nice on your lips.

Dior Addict Lip Maximizer is a lip plumper. You don't feel the strong tingling sensation that you would from most lip plumpers (I love the tingling feeling). The plumper does rejuvenate your lips, and over time you will notice results. You will not see immediate results with this plumper, and must continuously use it for many weeks. I love the vanilla-mint scent of this plumper. For me, scent is important and the vanilla-mint aura of this plumper is addictive.

You can purchase Dior makeup products at any major department store and Sephora.

ELIZABETH AND JAMES Nirvana For Her

June 16, 2014
I am a huge fan of Elizabeth and James apparel and when I heard about the new Elizabeth and James Nirvana parfum, I rushed to Sephora to purchase it. Nirvana for her comes in two scents; Black and White. The Black is comprised of violet, sandalwood and vanilla, and the White of peony, muguet, and musk. I am partial to the Black parfum, because it is spicy, masculine and feminine. It is a warm scent that goes great with a vanilla body lotion. If you are like me and dislike floral scents, Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black is a parfum you will love.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black and White come in three sizes; a rollerball, 1.0 oz and 1.7 oz spray at Sephora. I purchased the Black rollerball for travel, and received a sample (gift with purchase) of the White. Sephora parfum rollerballs are great if you just wanna try a parfum, without paying the high cost of a full size spray. Rollerballs are also perfect for travel and carrying in your purse.

Bliss Fabulips Pout-o-matic Spa Powered Lip Perfecting System

June 07, 2014
The Bliss Fabulips Pout-o-matic Spa Lip Perfecting System is my new beauty toy. I experiment with lipsticks, balms, and plumbers and sometimes my lips become dry and chapped. I've tried many products to sooth my lips, nut nothing gave me the results I wanted until the Bliss Fabulips System. Add a small amount of the sugar lip scrub onto the tool head, press against your lips and push the on button. Move the exfoliating tool in circular motions until you've exfoliated your lips (including your lip line). Gently wipe your lips with a towel and you're done. I recommend applying Bliss Replenish Softening Lip Balm after exfoliating. Your lips feel soft and rejuvenated.

The kit includes The Pout-o-matic Lip Exfoliating tool, Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub and a replacement head for the tool. It retails for $48 at blissworld.com and Sephora. It's pricey, but for all of you beauty product lovers, it's a great tool for combating dry, chapped lips.

I love the brush shape of these mascaras. The Phenomen Eyes brush is a small round ball, perfect for covering your lashes in the outer corner of your eye. Buxom Lip Gloss

March 05, 2014

As far as lip plumping goes, Buxom plumping lip glosses are superior. I'm a big fan of lip plumping gloss; I like the tingling feeling! Buxom comes in a huge variety of shades, tingling or non-tingle, and smells delicious.

Buxom Full-On Lip Cream is available in 10 matte, creamy shades.

Buxom Full-Bodied Lip Gloss is also available in 10 shades. This sheer gloss has plumping effects, minus the tingling.

Buxom Full-On Lip Polish is sheer and available in 100 shades. The Full-On Lip Polish has plumping effects and when applied leaves a tingling feeling in your lips. This is my go-to plumping lip gloss. My favorite shades are Debbie - a coral/pink and Tonya - a bright pink. You can purchase all Buxom glosses at Sephora for $19 each. You can also purchase a mini gloss set with a variety of colors. This is a great way to sample the shades for a fraction of the cost.
