Back to Glossier

March 10, 2020

I purchased this Glossier haul online, but recently visited the store on Lafayette St., NY AND it's a must see. If you love cosmetics, you will love perusing the pink and white themed Glossier store. This was the first time I stood in line to enter a cosmetic store and apparently, there's always a lineup?! Once you're inside, you understand that the store is fairly small and jam packed with Glossier fans.

The products are on display and you gotta snag a salesperson to put in your order. The sample products are displayed on large white columns and if there wasn't so many people, it would make for a great Instagram photo.

There is a huge stairway leading up to the thoughtfully designed store. The decor is brilliant and there is a small elevator "of sorts" at the cash, where Glossier shopping bags with the buyers name printed on it come from above. It's a fun shopping gimmick.

I don't know if they sell these Glossier Slide Sandals at the store (they were not on display), but you can get them online. They're perfect for lounging and super cute. There are reviews saying the sizing chart is incorrect, but mine fit perfectly.

Glossier packaging is thoughtful and unique to the brand. You also receive a pink bubble pouch with a zip closure containing your products. These pouches are perfect for travel. There also a cute way to package cosmetic gifts. Who doesn't want a pink, bubblewrap pouch?!

I purchased the Glossier Solution Exfoliating Skin Protector under the impression that it was an exfoliator that perfects your skin. Upon receipt, I read Glossier reviews and it seems like this solution is for acne?

The description online does say this exfoliating solution will improve the appearance of redness, blemishes and large pores. Due to the list of acids, I'm hesitant to use it all over my face and am just applying a little around my jawline daily. I have rosacea and super-sensitive skin, so I wanna make sure this solution isn't gonna burn my face off.

The bottle has a push-pump that distributes small amounts of solution onto a cotton round - I like that. AND, I haven't had a serious reaction so far. BUT, this stuff smells like acid and leaves your skin feeling sticky?!

Unless I see an immediate result, I like to give facial products a few months before forming an opinion. I haven't given this product enough time to tell, but will update this post in the near future..

The Glossier G embossed natural cotton rounds are high-quality cotton pads. Unlike most cotton rounds, these don't have flyaways, so you won't get fibers stuck in your lashes. They're chemical free, fragrance free and lint free. Oh and they're super soft. There's 60 cotton rounds per pack and the cost is worth it.

I LOVE the super duo Glossier serums. I've used these in the past, but ventured off to try other brands. As of late, I'm back on the Glossier bandwagon.

The Super Bounce Serum contains the famed Hyaluronic Acid and vitamin B5 for mega hydration. Hence the name Bounce - your skin will feel nourished and supple.

The Super Glow Serum contains vitamin C and Magnesium to promote brighter skin. The combination of these two serums has made my complexion more radiant and less dry during this cold season. This serum duo is a must have.

Both serums are lightweight, non-sticky and have a subtle scent that dissipates quickly. They do take a minute to absorb, but sit nicely under your daily moisturizer.

Seems like I always and only have a breakout when I'm on vacation. The Glossier Zit Stick is perfect for on-the-go and travel. I typically use sulfur to combat breakouts, but this 5% Benzoyl Peroxide acne treatment gel gets the job done much faster. On that note, this breakout eraser is strong and will burn through a pimple in no time, so apply precisely.

Twist the bottom of the pen and translucent formula appears on the stainless-steel rollerball tip. Apply on clean skin or over makeup and off ya go.. The Capryloyl Salicylic Acid will shrink blemishes while the Tea Tree Oil reduces swelling.

This zit erasing formula does diminish my pimples quickly, but leaves the area red and a little irritated. I recommend you test the product on less-visible skin before putting it on your face. I will continue to use a gentle sulfur treatment at home, but will throw this zit stick in my travel cosmetic case for a quick solution.

I am obsessed with the Glossier Bubblewrap Eye and Lip Plumping Cream. This wondrous product has secured a permanent spot in my cosmetic routine AND landed a spot on my best of 2020 list.

The lightweight moisturizer glides on nicely and absorbs quickly. I typically use this cream around the delicate eye area in the AM and sometimes add a little over my night eye cream for extra hydration. This Bubblewrap cream leaves my under eye area looking fresh and nourished. Trust me - It's a miracle!

You can use this cream on your lips. It doesn't have a cream taste and will moisturize your lips, but I don't think it will make your pout appear plump - just nourished. I suppose applying it won't hurt, but I prefer a heavy-duty lip balm.

While this water-in-oil emulsion is meant for delicate areas, you can apply this cream anywhere for intense hydration. The packaging is compact and great for on-the-go and travel.

A Lip Scrub & Facial Massage

February 26, 2020

I'm always on the prowl for a new lip treatment, especially one that boasts plumping qualities. The Nurse Jamie NuLips RX duo isn't a lip plumping regiment, but does promote healthy, nourished lips; which will make your pout appear fuller.

Oh and the all natural lip balm contains the famed Hyaluronic Acid - don't get caught up in the Hyaluronic hype. Everything contains this "magical" ingredient. The balm does however contain beneficial oils - this is essential in a nourishing lip balm.

I really like the Nurse Jamie Anti-Microbial Silicone Lip Brush. It's soft and induces circulation in your lips. It's not brittle enough to remove dry skin - you're gonna need a proper exfoliator for that. Albeit, the soft bristles will give you a gentle lip massage.

The lip-shaped, silicone lip brush has a handle for easy use, that also has a suction cup - In case you wanna stick it to the lip balm pot, your mirror or fridge?!

This lip balm and lip brush duo is relatively small and great for travel. My entire body dries out on planes and in hotels, so I tend to overdose on lip balm.

The Nurse Jamie NuLips RX Balm is all natural, petroleum free and contains beneficial oils to promote healthy, soft lips - Beeswax, Shea Butter and Almond Oil - to name a few.

The balm has a thick, wax-like appearance and feel. The NuLips balm reacts to the heat from your lips and swiftly melts into an oily texture. The scent is sweet and light. My only complaint is the pot. I prefer lip products in a tube, so I don't have to dip my fingers in the product.

Is this a must-have duo? Umm.. No. There are better exfoliating lip treatments and this one is too gentle for me. I highly suggest using your toothbrush to exfoliate your lips. That being said, this NuLips balm will not go to waste and the gentle anti-microbial silicone lip brush has earned a spot in my travel cosmetic bag.

While perusing the Nurse Jamie line-up, I decided to give the NuVibe RX Amethyst Massaging Beauty Tool a try. I'm seeing a lot of facial massage devices on Instagram and being a beginner, I went with the first tool to pop up on my screen. I should know better!

This facial massaging tool utilizes gentle (emphasis on the gentle) sonic vibration to promote good circulation. Essentially, this is what most facial massage tools promote - circulation, anti-bloat and an overall youthful appearance. The tool heads are usually a stone or metal. This Nurse Jamie beauty tool has a slim design and an Amethyst stone - my birth stone.

At first, I loved this tool. I used it morning and night for a week and although I didn't see a major change in my skin, I enjoyed the gentle massage. I would have given this beauty tool a good grade, but then I found a better facial massager.

I was pursuing the Goop site and purchased the Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar..

This 24kt gold sculpting bar is a game changer! I use this beauty tool twice a day for about 8 minutes. I start with my cheeks, massage my nose, between the brows, upwards along my chin and then my neck. Always massage upwards and outwards.

It's super relaxing and I've noticed a HUGE change in my skin. Especially when my face is a little bloated (too much wine and salt). This facial massager de-bloats and really does give you a more youthful appearance.

Aside from Rosacea, I have clear skin and as long as my Rosacea doesn't flare-up, I don't even need foundation. BUT, this 24kt gold beauty tool has taken my skin to a new level of looking refreshed. This tool has a permanent spot in my beauty routine.

To compare the two - The design of the Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar is more suitable for massaging the face and neck. The bar glides along your skin with ease and allows you to cover a larger area when you massage upwards and outwards. The Nurse Jamie NuVibe Rx Amethyst stone is clearly a different shape and roughly the same size in diameter, but doesn't have the same effect as the gold bar. Contrary to what people say - shape and size do matter!

Vibration strength is super important and the Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar wins this category by a landslide. The gold sculpting bar gives you an intense vibrating facial massage, while the NuVibe pales in comparison.

The Jillian Dempsey tool is slightly heavier and has a sleek design. The bar remains cold longer then the Amethyst stone and is more comfortable when massaging your neck and chin. It is however more expensive, BUT appears to be of better quality. The Nurse Jamie NuVibe Rx retails for $95 and the Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar retails for $195. Trust me, the extra $100 is worth it!

Bye Bye Redness

July 26, 2019

This one goes out to all of you suffering from angry red face! Whatever the cause, Rosacea is hard to manage and flare-ups can be unpredictable. I use three topical medications and a variety of facial serums, but my irritable skin flares up on the daily.

Yeah, you're should avoid food, beverages, products snd environments that trigger a flushed face, BUT that would leave you miserable. Spicy food, cheese and wine are three of my favorite things to eat and drink AND I refuse to give them up in an effort to combat my flushed skin. Stress is also a huge factor, but that one's unavoidable.

I do however have a lineup of anti-redness products to mask the "I've had too much wine" look. These redness correctors will change your life..

Many dermatologist stock Colorescience products - that's sayin' something about this better skin brand. All of the products have SPF to combat skincare battles as a result of sun exposure, before they start. Colorescience All Calm provides SPF 50 sun protection. LOVE that!

Colorescience All Calm Clinical Redness Corrector is a new product in my skincare lineup. The primer-like product calms your skin while combatting redness. It has a similar texture to Colorescience Perfectors - a silky, thick facial product that glides on nicely and neutralizes your skin tone. It is however only available in one shade that may be light on tanned skin or darker skin tones.

I have been using Colorescience products since 2014 and while I've updated my go-to product list many times over the years, Colorescience Perfectors are still at the top.

These primers give you a natural, even tone, leaving no trace of caked on makeup (like foundation often appears). These perfectors blend perfectly (hence the name I suppose), minimize the look of your pores, blur wrinkles, and enhances your complexion. The natural result is far better than using foundation. People often compliment my skin and asked what foundation I wear - I don't!

The texture is soft and silky. It is a bit thick, but when applied over a nourished face, neck and décolletage, it absorbs quickly and enhances your skin dramatically.

I use the Calming Perfector during cold seasons and blend it with Bronzing Perfector during the summer for a sun kissed look. The Brightening Perfector is great for combatting redness and illuminating your skin. Don't be afraid of the pale yellow tone - it will transform your skin and brighten your complexion. I promise.

I have 'officially' (nothing I declare is really official) branded It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Color-Correcting cream the 'anti-redness warpaint'. If you have Rosacea or hyper pigmentation, you need this.

Bye Bye Redness is the ultimate anti-redness product. It's kinda like a foundation, primer and cream in one. It is thick, has a silky texture and gives you super full-coverage. This product is smooth, goes on like a primer (similar to Colorscience primers), has a green tint (to mask redness) and gives you a matte finish.

Apply to your cheeks, nose and forehead and blend outwards. A little goes a long way. Beware - this stuff will stain your clothes, so be careful when applying.

Bye Bye Redness Color-Correcting cream is available in three shades - Transforming Porcelain Beige, Transforming Neutral Beige and Transforming Light Beige. If you can't decide what shade to purchase, go with the neutral.

The mint green tint of Laura Mercier Shine Control Pressed Setting Powder tones down redness. The 'Shine Control Complex' gives you a shine-free, fresh, matte finish - a much-needed addition to my cosmetic bag for on-the-go touchups.

I wouldn't recommend this translucent powder for tanned or darker skin tones. Apply this powder to combat redness and reduce shine - it's not an all-over powder.

..Toodles 2018

December 30, 2018

..TOODLES 2018. It was a rough one emotionally, but my beauty exploration and fashion addiction survived the madness and remained strong and exciting! I'm heading into 2019 with a new attitude towards health and beauty. My shoe and handbag addiction will probably continue to be ridiculous (by some standards), but 2018 has taught me to make changes, embrace new brands and get creative with my style and makeup.

My biggest obsession is sunglasses. I purchased too many Chloé sunglasses this year! MIU MIU sunnies recently took over my looks, but Chloé reigns supreme on my sunnies shelf.

I just snagged these MIU MIU star embossed sunglasses and Swarovski crystal embellished sunglasses and glasses chain at Holt Renfrew in Toronto. LOVE! I'll be seeing stars in 2019!

My personal style remains the same - chic joggers and sock-style boots with printed t-shirts and sweatshirts. My favorite clothing brands are 3.1 Phillip Lim, Fenty X Puma, Tularosa, GRLFRND, Mother, Spell & The Gypsy Collective, For Love & Lemons, Monrow sweatpants , Karl Lagerfeld and Fiorucci (t-shirts and sweatshirts) and Nation LTD (to name a few).

My infatuation with designer shoes and handbags remains expensive! Louis Vuitton handbags are still taking over my collection. I finally found myself an LV sales representative in New York and she's fabulous. Some LV bags are impossible to get (unless you have a rep). She snagged me a Summer Trunk tote and Time Trunk Alma handbag as soon as they hit the sales floor. She's my handbag fairy!

After a five year hiatus, Gucci has made a comeback in my collection. My husband tracked down a Gucci bag I had been coveting for months and gave it to me for our 10 year anniversary. Best gift a girl could get! AND, of course, I'm still a Chloé girl and LOVE Chloé handbags.

I LOVE BOOTS! I'm still rocking Fendi Rockoko and Yeezy sock-style boots. I purchased too many Adidas sneakers in 2018, got some Chloé boots and a new pair of Fendi fur slides (possibly the best purchase of 2018). I'm looking forward to summer, so I can strut around in my mew Fendi slides.

Another year gone and while I spent most of my time shopping and exploring new beauty products, my go-to brands remain the same. For anti-aging, Neocutis is my favorite. I got a mini fridge for Christmas and am keeping my Neocutis products in there. Applying cold eye and face creams is new to me and I love it! AND, I still love Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Hydrating Face Cream (great for calming rosacea) and Extra Eye Repair Cream.

My favorite make-up brands list has changed a little. Benefit Cosmetics, Too Faced, Dior and beautyblender reign supreme in my Cosmocube. Oh and there's a few KKW Beauty products in there too - love the brushes. My long-time favorites, Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier are still taking up some real estate in the cube.

I still get IPL (Intense Pulsed Light Treatment) and Clear + Brilliant laser Treatment. These two combined leave my skin looking fresh, vibrant and reduce the appearance of my rosacea. They are painful and expensive, but worth it. I'm also still doing botox. I've had a few botched jobs and am a little turned off, but I think it's about finding the right dermatologist..

My hair is finally back to normal. I suffered from botched hair for two years and it was a struggle. The silver lining is that I tried too many hair care products and shared my thoughts on b.a.gorgie.com. I hope my product reviews helped a few of you. Surprisingly, I introduced a new shampoo and conditioner to the routine in 2018. My long-time favorite Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil shampoo and conditioner still have a permanent spot in the shower, but now I'm alternating with Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance shampoo and No. 5 Bond Maintenance conditioner. This stuff is amazing!

I tried Coolsculpting and got "minimal results". Highly disappointing. After waiting four months for maximum results and feeling like I spent too much money and wasted my time, I decided to start working out (there are no shortcuts). I also changed my eating habits. I'm eating healthier and smaller portions. I'm proud to say, I've lost 14 lbs. YUP! It was a slow process (took an entire year)! I have another 6 lbs to go and am hoping to get a MIRROR Home Gym in the 2019. HINT HINT.. I'm also considering the new fat reducing procedure Vanquish. I'll let ya know how it goes.

My favorite body wash and creams are Sol de Janeiro and Aveeno (for those sensitive days). The caramel-pistachio scent of Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum body cream, Brazilian Crush body mist and Brazilian 4 Play moisturizing shower cream-gel are delicious! This cosmetic brand has made a few appearances on the blog and still reigns supreme.

That's my favorite cosmetics, procedures, fashion brands and style diary for 2018. I'm still a cosmetic junkie and am obsessed with shoes and handbags. I have a few trips in 2019 and am already planning my outfits..

The Best of 2018

December 06, 2018

I'm a huge BEAUTYBLENDER fan. I've purchased all but one product in the lineup and have yet to be disappointed. The beautyblender cosmetic sponge is available in two sizes - original and micro.mini. The smaller beautyblender is one-quarter the size of the original and perfect for blending makeup in small areas. The beautyblender is also available in a variety of colors - green, black, blue, nude, white, gray and shades of pink.

The lineup also includes innovative tools and cleansers. Liquid Blendercleanser, Blendercleanser Solid and Instaclean Sponge and Brush Cleansing Spray all do a great job cleaning your cosmetic sponge. I use the solid while traveling - it comes in a plastic case and has a custom grid for drying. The liquid is my favorite. A little goes a long way and the scent is refreshing. The Instaclean Sponge and Brush Cleansing Spray is for quick removal of surface stains, so you get true-to-color application. It's like dry shampoo for your beautyblender.

BEAUTYBLENDER also has Bounce Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation (haven't tried this one yet), Blender Defender Beautyblender Protective Case (LOVE this - great for travel), Liner.Designer Pro (for perfect eye liner application) and the Power Pocket Puff (a double-sided puff used for powder formulas). I'm awarding BEAUTYBLENDER Outstanding Makeup Tools of 2018.

The Best Eye-Care Award goes to Lumify Redness Relief Eye Drops. These eye drops selectively target redness for whiter, brighter eyes. The unique formulation targets redness, while still allowing oxygen and nutrition to the eye, eliminating the risk of re-bound redness.

This stuff is AMAZING! It starts working within one minute and last for hours. Bausch + Lomb claims it lasts up to 8 hours. It doesn't last that long for me, but I'm sure each person is unique. Albeit, the bottle is small, so you can take it everywhere and apply the drops on an as needed basis. The downside to the small bottle is that it doesn’t last long. Here's where my product hoarding, cosmetic junkie quirk benefits me - after the first application and miraculous transformation, I purchased five bottles (just in case it sells out).

Another amazing anti- redness solution - It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting cream. I have 'officially' (nothing I declare is really official) branded this product the 'anti-redness warpaint'. If you have Rosacea or hyper pigmentation, this stuff is going to change your life.

Bye Bye Redness by IT Cosmetics deserves the Bye Bye Redness Award. It's kind of a foundation, primer and cream in one. Bye Bye Redness is thick, has a silky texture and gives you super full-coverage. This product is smooth, goes on like a primer (similar to Colorscience primers), and has a tinge of green (to combat redness). Apply to your cheeks, nose and forehead, and blend outwards. AND little goes a long way.

I know I've exhausted the Sol de Janeiro lineup and posted too many reviews, BUT I'm addicted and had to award the BUM BUM Body Cream and Brazilian Kiss Cupuacu Lip Butter Best Nourishing Products of 2018.

The pistachio-caramel scent of Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream is delicious! The scent is strong, but sweet and intriguing. The cream is super-nourishing and has a slight shimmer that gives your skin a subtle glow.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Cupuacu Lip Butter is one of my favorite lip balms - I have one in my bathroom, one at my computer and one in my handbag! The light, creamy texture is nourishing and the tube is BIG, so it will last a long time. This super-hydrating lip balm is a must have.

I'm a Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil super-fan and have tried a ridiculous number of other shampoos and conditioners, but always go back to Bb. Not this time - Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner have landed a permanent spot in my haircare routine.

The No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner have a subtle, delicious coconut citrus scent. The combination of these two haircare products will leave your hair feeling soft and super-nourished. Olaplex, please accept my Superior Haircare Award.

This twist-up, crayon-like Bb. color stick is the perfect root touch-up product and worthy of the Quick Fix Award. I hate when my roots show, and admittedly, I have three grays (that I can see)! I dye my hair every three weeks, so my roots are maintained. I do however have very fine hair, and this color stick is great for filling in sparse areas. Just glide the twist-up pencil along your hair for perfect coverage.

The Beauty From Within Award goes to SkinnyMint Tea. The two-step detox program is comprised of 28 day teas and 14 night teas (for every second night). The creators of SkinnyMint Tea have carefully curated all-natural ingredients that compliment each other. The 'food synergy' is potent.

The Morning Boost contains green tea (the list of green tea benefits goes on and on..), Yurba Mate to curb your appetite and boost your metabolism, Nettle Leaves are a natural diuretic, Dandelion for digestions and Guarana fruit for cleaning. The fruity flavor is light and delicious. I'm addicted!

The Night Cleanse Tea has anti-bloating Ginger Root, Orange Leaves to aid with sleep, Senna Leaves are a natural laxative, Peppermint for digestive and colic relief, Licorice Root as an antacid, Hawthorn Berries for anti-anxiety and the natural laxative Psyllium Husk. Each of these all-natural ingredients have additional benefits. This ingredient combination is super-cleansing.

Milk, Suds and Foam

November 27, 2018

A few months ago, I squeezed out the last of my Clarisonic face wash. AND, I was devastated to learn that it was no longer available - ANYWHERE! So, the search for a new facial cleanser began..

Of course, I searched cleansers on Sephora and started with the best-sellers. Sephora reviewers can be tough and I trust the star-rating. Indie Lee was my first purchase. I like the name, the color scheme and the face wash had good reviews.

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser is super thick and jelly-like. The heavy glass bottle has a pump dispenser that pushes out just enough cleanser and there is a wee bit of foam as you massage the cleanser onto your skin. The scent is amazing - like fresh strawberries. I'm not big on scented facial products, so for me to say it's pleasant, IT IS!

The Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser doubles as an exfoliator - LOVE that! Just leave on for five minutes before rinsing. Imma say it again - the scent is delicious, you will feel so refreshed after using this brightening cleanser. I suggest pairing your five minute, mini exfoliating mask with prosecco and strawberries.

While I did like the scent, after applying the Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser and rising after five minutes, my skin was on fire! I have rosacea and some products bring out the worst in my problem skin. I looked like I had just been from the Dermatologist and had laser treatments. My skin is RED, super dry and burning like a.. My rosacea symptoms have been at an all-time high lately - probably due to the drastic change in temperature outside. Maybe after the initial cold-shock, I'll give the Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser another go..

I'm a long-time fan of Bliss. The product line is high-quality and there is a wide range of cleansers to choose from. New to the shelf are Bliss cleansing sticks. This inexpensive trio includes Bliss Oh My Gommage! Gentle Polishing Cleanser, Bliss No Dull Days Oakwood Charcoal Purifying Cleanser and Bliss Cold Pressed Olive Oil Foaming Cleanser.

These little sticks resemble travel-sized deodorants. The packaging has a twist-up feature and the stick is easy to apply. I like that the product is small and not a liquid - perfect for travel.

The Oh My Gommage! Gentle Polishing Cleanser has the strongest scent - fresh, but floral (not my favorite). I wanna like this one, but cant get passed the overwhelming scent of old lady! Strong, floral scents remind me of "older" women!? This one didn't even make it to my face.

The No Dull Days Oakwood Charcoal Purifying Cleanser smells much better - a little floral-like, but fresh and kinda soapy. The product claims to absorb toxins, oil and makeup, while exfoliating and brightening your skin. OK, charcoal is one of those superior product terms (kinda like hyaluronic acid). I think we all equate charcoal with super-absorbing powers. This face wash is nice, but it ain't powerful enough to erase my makeup, let alone reach deep into my skin and detoxify. Albeit, I would still throw this in my bag for a quick-cleanse.

My favorite of the trio is the Cold Pressed Olive Oil Foaming Cleanser. I'm obsessed with olive oil, hate olives, but love a super-strong oil. This cleansing stick smells like olives and is comprised of more than 40% olive oil. If you rub your finger along the stick, you can see the oil. I'm a big fan of oil cleansing and if I find myself without eye-makeup remover, I will use a little olive oil on a cotton pad- it works!

The of scent of Bliss Cold Pressed Olive Oil Foaming Cleanser is light and the texture is nice. This light-lathering cleanser has earned a permanent place in my travel bag.

Over the many years of product experimenting, I always find myself coming back to this one. Bliss Fab Foaming Cleanser is is an oldie, but goodie! The scent is DELICIOUS! - like blueberries. The jelly-like product is lightweight and foams nicely. There's something about suds that attract me. I cant do non-foaming washes for my face and especially my hair - no suds equate to not-clean in my mind. I know this is ridiculous and that you can cleanse without foam (cleansing oil), but suds are a necessary feature in my nightly cleaning wash and shampoo.

This 2-in-1 cleanser and exfoliator with bamboo buffers meets all my needs - a delicious scent, suds and a super-clean sensation after cleansing. Wet your face, apply a little cleanser, massage your skin in circular motions and rinse. You're gonna love this one.

I'm sure many of you have a different opinion, but La Mer products aren't my favorite - I know (insert gasp). This super-expensive product line is overpriced and smells like the eighties. I tried the eye cream and it was ok, but the facial creams stink! I'm not sure if any of these products would make a drastic change in my appearance, because upon application my rosacea flares up (probably due to the perfume) and the smell is giving me a headache.

Albeit, people (many celebrities) love La Mer AND it costs a fortune, so there must be something to it!? The texture of La Mer The Cleansing Foam is nice, BUT it smells like men's Irish Spring bar of soap. NOT NICE! Remember back when bar of soap was the go-to body wash - I'm so happy we've progressed and moisturizing body washes were created! La Mer The Faoming Cleanser will leave your skin feeling like you just washed your face with a bar of soap - tight and dry. Maybe this is what some people want, but I'm not getting the appeal. The silver lining is - I only purchased a travel-size tube and don't feel bad about giving this one away..

Here's the punch line - after purchasing all of these facial cleansers, Clarisonic Radiance Foaming Milk Cleanser makes a comeback! Are you f**king kidding me? I wasted so much money in search of my new go-to cleanser, only to end up back where I started.

Clarisonic Radiance Foaming Milk Cleanser is amazing. The creamy texture goes well with the Clarisonic device. Just pour a little dollop onto your Clarisonic brush, move the brush along your damp skin in circular motions and watch the subtle suds melt away makeup, oil and dirt. This stuff is amazing! The fresh scent is strong (unusual for me to like something so stinky), but dissipates quickly. After cleaning, your face will feel soft, moisturized and clean. Best of all, a little goes a long way, so one tube will last you six months.

After all that, all I got was an elaborate blog post on facial cleansers. I'm giving away all the newbies and going back to my favorite foaming milk cleanser.

Milk, Suds and Foam

A few months ago, I squeezed out the last of my Clarisonic face wash. AND, I was devastated to learn that it was no longer available - ANYWHERE! So, the search for a new facial cleanser began.. Of...

Shake & Shot

June 13, 2018

Dr. Jart+ Shake & Shot rubber masks use the same technique found in high-end Korean spas. The cream-to-sheet deeply penetrates the skin, infusing it with active ingredients to combat the usual issues - hydrate, brighten, firm and sooth. Each mask is comes in a small, colorful cup, with a plastic, moulded face lid. The packaging is genius, super fun and appealing.

I purchased the Dr. Jart+ Shake & Shot Rubber Soothing Mask purely due to the color scheme of the packaging. AND am so glad I did, cause I've been battling a cold and sore throat this last week and my face says it all - I need a little soothing. My rosacea is on fire these days and the skin on and around my nose is super dry and irritated. I need a facial miracle!

The The 'Shake it Up! Give Skin a Shot!' steps are easy - Use the spatula to mix the Super Booster and Soothing Liquid Ampoule in the cup. Close the lid, cover the hole with your finger and shake it up. Within 2-3 minutes, use the spatula to apply an even layer of the product all over your face (avoid eyes and mouth). Leave for 15-20 minutes. Start at the edges of the rubber mask and gently peel it off. Use a damp cloth to remove any residue.

The process is easy and kinda fun! You only have to give the cup a quick shake and you'll feel the product getting thick. The final result is a heavy paste. Applying an even layer with the spatula was difficult, so I suggest spreading the product with your fingers. There is a lot of solution - two people could share one cup of rubber mask. The solution has a barely there cream-like scent (I like that). It does feel little cool on the face, but my air conditioning is cranked, so..

Removing the mask was interesting. The product morphed into rubber and peeled off easily. There was a little residue, but I was able to remove it with a damp cotton pad. Being that this is a Rubber 'Soothing' Mask, I was surprised to see my face flare up. My forehead immediately turned red and I had red blotches everywhere else. My skin remained this way for hours. My skin felt a little dehydrated and the dry skin around my nose was intensified. I had high hopes for rubber masks, but this one fell short of my expectations.

The process was fun and I can check rubber masks off my list, but I much prefer charcoal masks and an exfoliator. My go-to masks are the M.A.C Cosmetics Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator with the Mineralize Reset & Revive Charcoal Mask AND the Bobbi Brown Instant Detox Mask, followed by the Radiance Boost Mask (exfoliator). Search these products on b.a.gorgie to get a full review..

Anti-Redness Warpaint

March 23, 2018

I have 'officially' (nothing I declare is really official) branded It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting cream the 'anti-redness warpaint'. If you have Rosacea or hyper pigmentation, this stuff is going to change your life. I desperately needed a solution to my rosy cheeks, nose and forehead. I use medicated creams, but my angry skin flares up on the daily. AND, I'm not about to stop eating spicy food and drinking wine (major flare-up culprits).

Bye Bye Redness by IT Cosmetics deserves an award. A little goes a long way. The embarrassing redness is gone. GONE! Without a doubt, this is the product find of 2017!

Another anti-redness product by It Cosmetics - Bye Bye Redness Moisturizer. I don't think this stuff eliminates redness, but the product feels amazing on your skin. The green-toned facial cream is medium-heavy, has a fresh scent and really gives your skin a hydration boost. I don't see a change in my rosy cheeks, nose and forehead, but I still love this product for its intense moisturizing qualities. AND, my skin is crazy angry - everything makes my dreaded rosy hue come to surface. Bye Bye Redness Moisturizer is a must-have in my morning (pre-makeup routine) routine. Yeah, I have two morning routines! I guess I have too much time on my hands.

It Cosmetics is quickly becoming one of my go-to brands. The cult favorite cosmetic lineup has yet to disappoint. I LOVE this Your Je Ne Se Quoi Complexion Perfection Face Palette. Bye Bye Pores Blush, Bye Bye Pores Pressed Finish Airbrushed Pressed Powder, Poreless Sunshine in a Compact Matte Bronzer and Perfect Lighting Luminizer are the perfect combination for a subtle summer glow. I'm obsessed with blush and highlighter - these shades are gorgeous. The palette is kinda big, BUT you're getting more product. A must have this upcoming season.

IT Cosmetics

November 28, 2017

IT Cosmetics is a cosmetic brand developed with plastic surgeons - sounds promising. The co-founder and CEO, Jamie, is looking for solutions to 'real' problems. Honestly, I like this girl - if you see her before and after pics, she has serious redness (I can relate). She's putting herself out there, showing off her skin issues and giving us a solution.

This brand was purchased by L'Oréal - The major makeup empire boost has proven to be successful. It Cosmetics is getting great reviews and many of IT Cosmetics products are on Sephora's 'best sellers' list. I had to give this stuff a try..

I call this my 'anti-redness warpaint'. If you have Rosacea or hyper pigmentation, this stuff is going to change your life. I desperately needed a solution to my rosy cheeks and forehead. Although I use medicated creams, my angry skin flares up on the daily. I suppose I could stop eating spicy food and drinking wine - NAH!

In comes Bye Bye Redness by IT Cosmetics.. A little goes a long way. The embarrassing redness is gone. GONE! Without a doubt, this is the product find of 2017!

I love Bye Bye Redness, so I thought I'd try a few more products from the IT Cosmetics lineup..

The Confidence in a Cream (the pale yellow pot) is a 'transforming moisturizer in a cream'. The texture is nice, just thick enough and leaves your skin feeling moisturized. It does however take time to absorb (not ideal when applying makeup). I liked the feeling of my skin after applying this cream, but the scent is a bit of a turnoff. I'm sorry Jamie, but this stuff smells like hotel cream. If scent is not an issue for you, I'd say this cream is great for colder seasons. It's super moisturizing.

I didn't like the Bye Bye Under Eye eye cream (the blue pot). It made my under eyes feel super tight and people said I looked tired. Whether or not this eye cream tightens, brightens and depuffs - I'm not sure, cause I only used it for a week. I guess my go-to Neo Cutis eye cream still reigns supreme.

I received a trail-size Super Hero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara (I'm not one to cheat), but thought I'd give it a go. This mascara is great, lengthens your lashes, glides on nicely and no clumping. The oversized, tapered brush makes application easy and coats your lashes evenly. Albeit, my go-to Buxom mascara remains my favorite. It's gonna take a true 'super mascara' to turn me. I intend to try more of the products from It Cosmetics. I'll let ya know my thought..

Bobbi Brown Remedies

May 01, 2017

When I read that Bobbi Brown Cosmetics would release a collection of skin 'Remedies', I was super excited. I felt like I was cheating on my adored Glossier serums, but a collection by my favorite cosmetic brand is too tempting. Of course, I purchased all six Bobbi Brown Remedies (product junkie here). These remedies treat everything from dehydration to irritation to problem skin..

Skin salves are having a moment - or maybe I'm having a salve moment and just assume everyone else it? The Remedies Skin Salve No. 57 is a MUST HAVE. A few weeks ago, I peeled dry skin on the side of my nose and literally caused a huge split (super painful and stupid). I applied this salve many times for three days and the wound healed completely. This salve is great for chapped lips and super dry areas (anywhere you have damaged skin). I use it on my cuticles - it keeps them nourished and they appear to be in much better condition. The super nourishing ingredients in Skin Salve were chosen to repair dry, damaged and compromised skin. Shea Butter binds moisture to the skin, while Beeswax creates a barrier. Natural root extracts, carrot and licorice, were added for their moisturizing properties. The super-thick formula has a pleasant, fresh scent - some say carrots, but I smell cucumber (even though there is no cucumber on the ingredient list).

I still struggle with the idea of using oil to combat oily skin and clogged pores. Years ago, my dermatologist told me to avoid anything that contained oil - BUT apparently oil is the new 'de-clogging' remedy. Skin Clarifier No. 75 is comprised of skin-purifying Manuka Oil, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Rosehip Oil (rich in nutrients), and Saw Palmetto Oil to control sebum levels. Together these oils exfoliate your skin and clean out pores. This thick clarifier is super oily (smells like oil too) and heavy on your skin. I recommend you apply this treatment last in your nightly routine and a little goes a long way, so just a few drops. Skin Clarifier is the only in the collection that causes my rosacea to flare-up, so I apply it sporadically. I can't say if it's improving my skin as of yet.. Layer over Reviver and under Skin Relief to treat problem skin.

Skin Relief No. 80 - Natural ingredients from Israeli Red Algae and Knotted Kelp calm skin irritation and reduce the appearance of redness. Red Algae is known for its soothing properties and redness reducing powers. This non-greasy, calming algae complex is weightless, absorbs fairly quickly and leaves your skin feeling soft. I have rocasea and need all the 'skin relief' I can get. My face is usually red in the AM (after washing and applying product), and this serum does temporarily relieve the redness. Layer over Skin Reviver and Skin Clarifier to treat reactive, problem skin.

Skin Moisture Solution No. 86 - This intense hydration compound contains Sodium Hyaluronate - a powerful moisture magnet. It can absorb up to 1000 times its weight in water. This Skin Moisture Solution promotes natural Hyaluronic acid (skin plumper) production and restores skin's moisture levels. The solution is medium-weight, absorbs fairly quickly and feels silky on your skin. In combination with Skin Reviver and Skin Relief, my skin does appear more hydrated and less irritated. Layer over Skin Reviver and under Skin Fortifier (super heavy tonic) to boost dull, dry skin.

Skin Reviver No. 91 - This power greens ferment is super rich in antioxidants. The lightweight solution contains extracts from green algae, fresh kale, spinach and brussels sprouts. YES, those little, smelly (I'm not a fan), cabbage-like orbs are making their way into skincare. This remedy is kinda like a green juice for your face. The ferment goes on like water and absorbs quickly. The scent is strange; familiar, but unrecognizable and subtly unpleasant (you get used to it). I like the Skin Reviver ferment very much. It absorbs fast and doesn't irritate. I wouldn't say my skin looks 'amazing' due to these remedies, but with all the stress and traveling I've endured, I don't look too bad! When layering Bobbi Brown remedies, apply Skin Reviver first.

Skin Fortifier No. 93 repairs and replenishes the skin's moisture barrier. Your skin's ability to protect itself will allow it to hold moisture and keep toxins out. This light-green tonic contains lipid-rich ingredients to supplement your skin's ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol. Muru Muru Butter promotes supple skin, cold pressed Meadowfoam Seed Oil and Olive Oil supplement skin's fatty acids, Rasberry Leaf Wax is an essential lipid that gives skin structure and Soybean Sterols bolster skin's cholesterol. Sound heavy? IT IS! This tonic barely absorbs, so stay away from delicate fabrics. THIS STUFF IS THICK AND OILY. I'm not a fan of heavy oil on my face, so I'm hesitant to apply this serum. Layer over Skin Reviver and Skin Moisture to combat dry skin.

I thought I had retired my Glossier serums and shacked up with Bobbi Brown Remedies, but I am not so sure.. I will repurchase the Skin Reviver No. 91. It's super light-weight, absorbs quickly and I'm a fan of 'topical greens'. I'm on my second bottle of No. 80 and No. 86, but I'm not sure I will repurchase. I do however LOVE the salve.

Each bottle has a smart dropper that allows for easy, controlled dispensing. Always layer (never mix solutions), and allow each remedy to dry before applying the next. Apply these remedies light-weight to heavier solutions. Bobbi Brown Remedies retail for $45. The Rescue Kits retail for $35 and contain 3x3 ml remedies to combat different skin issues - Recovery Rescue Kit, Clarity Rescue Kit, and Moisture Rescue Kit. These kits are a great way to sample the products for a fraction of the cost and the mini bottles are perfect for travel.
