Fur or Faux?

November 27, 2015

The cold weather has put me in a fur or faux kinda mood. Admittedly, I'm addicted to soft, furry things (real and faux). While some of my favorite apparel and accessories this season are fur, I often opt for a less expensive faux version. Everything is fur or faux this winter; from coats to gilets and bags to shoes, you can don this trend just about anywhere! I especially love little fur details on boots and shoes - it's unexpected and fun. I'm also partial to neutral tones that lighten up an otherwise dark season for apparel. Here's a montage of fur and faux items to inspire your fashion choices this winter.

Luxury Fashion For Less: Gucci

October 08, 2015
The Fall 2015 Gucci girl has a nonchalant attitude toward fashion and still gets all the attention! Gucci makes geek street fashion chic and possibly the most fun to mimic this season. The muted color palette and 70's inspired vibe is eclectic and easy-going. I posted about Zara's 'Gucci inspired' collection a while back - fast fashion stores are practically replicating the Gucci style and producing trendy, inexpensive items. Pictured here are apparel and accessories from Mango and Zara.

Luxury Fashion For Less: Burberry Prorsum

October 06, 2015

The Burberry Prorsum Fall 2015 collection, 'Patchwork, Pattern and Prints' showcased 70's inspired chic bohemian style. Floral and fringe dominated the runway and each look was as inspiring as the last. The suede fringe cape was my favorite. The elderberry colored cape retails for €7,250! You can buy a similar style at Mango in cognac for €99,99! This neutral color would look great paired with dark denim and bordeaux over-the-knee boots.

The Burberry Prorsum show always introduces a new style of handbag featured in that seasons favorite colors and embellishments. The Fall 2015 collection showcased the 'Bucket Bag' in two sizes, prints, suede and of course fringed. Pictured here is a dark green fringed suede bag by Mango. Bucket shaped, jewel tone and fringed - embodies everything necessary to pull off a Burberry Prorsum inspired look.

Luxury Fashion For Less: Chloé

October 05, 2015

My favorite collection this season is without a doubt Chloé. Fleetwood Mac, corduroy, shag and ponchos - the Chloé girl is feminine, carefree and fashionable.

I was beyond excited when I walked into Mango and realized I could re-create many Chloé Fall 2015 looks for a reasonable price. Shopping spree! I got to thinking, I'm gonna browse fast-fashion stores and share my findings with you. From the runway to your closet, this week I am focused on bringing you trendy looks for a fraction of the cost. Stay tuned..

Red Red Wine

August 27, 2015

Merlot, burgundy, grenache and bordeaux - let the rich colors of red wine inspire your fashion choices this upcoming season. Don't be afraid to wear shades of dark red from head-to-toe. Don a burgundy cable-knit sweater atop a grenache colored pant, or matching silk top and leather skirt in crimson-red. Emilio Pucci's velvet wide-leg pants in burgundy and Giamba's sleeveless fur tank inspire a perfect I'm chic, quirky and soft to the touch look! Pair red wine colors with cream, shades of gray and deep blue hues. Fur (faux too), velvet, wool, heavy lace.. dark red colors combined with textured fabrics are alluring, sophisticated and spot-on for fall.

Inspired by the Seventies

August 18, 2015

My recent visit to Zara (actually my first time shopping at Zara) has made me think differently about fast fashion and admittedly, I am a fan. Zara's impression of Fall 2015 designer collections stay true to the original style while keeping a short distance from mimicry. The colors, prints and silhouettes are 'what's now'. With a little designer inspiration and your own interpretation, anyone can re-create Fall's high-end fashion looks from Zara apparel and accessories. Just beyond the front doors was a seventies inspired collection that screamed Gucci Fall 2015 (one of my favorite collections this upcoming season). I also recognized a little Chloé in the clothing and purchased an oversized, shaggy vest similar in concept, but different material than the one seen atop a denim Cholé dress during the Fall show.

And so, another fashion collage to inspire you - seventies fashion is back (not sure it ever left). This seasons seventies inspired collections are retro and modern, feminine and flattering. Flared trousers are literally the most flattering cut on women. Denim and corduroy, shag and sheer will rein favorite materials this Fall. Hue's of pink, gray, dark red and the oh so retro camel are choice colors. Styling notes: flared on the bottom - fitted on top, loose or flared overalls, feminine silk tops, barely-there makeup and easy going hair.

Pictured here: (available at NET-A-PORTER) Chloé Shearling-trimmed Bomber Jacket, Marni Wool and Shearling Scarf, Gucci Point D'Esprit Top, Mark Cross Benchley Bag (available at FARFETCH) Natasha Zinko Overalls, Au Jour Le Jour Flared Jeans.

Fall Trend: Pink

July 22, 2015

The universally flattering pink is on-trend for Fall 2015. Whether it be bright pink, fuchsia, pale pink, Barbie pink or pinkish peachy, seems like the entire pink spectrum is having a moment in fashion. Not all pink shades work for every skin tone, so find your pink, one that works with you and not against you - for pale skin tones opt for a brighter pink, cool tones for black hair and warm for blonde. Pair pale pink with mint green, rose with teal and fuchsia with orange. One accent color is enough - you don't want to look like a rainbow! Embrace the trend and wear a full pink ensemble, like Tibi's blush pink skirt and top (above). If you're hesitant to don a pink look, then opt for a pink accessory - sunglasses and shoes are a subtle way to showcase your love for color. Fall's feminine pink shades are refreshing to a usually dark-toned season in fashion. Much of my closet is pink and I'm thrilled to see shades of pink in many Fall 2015 collections.

Trend Inspiration - Denim

January 21, 2015

The denim midi skirt has secured a spot as one of the top denim trends of 2015. The 70's inspired midi skirt seen on many runways for pre-fall went from below the knee, all the way down to the floor. The skirt was shown with buttons, seams, in many shades and in a variety of silhouettes.

How to wear this trend:

Wear a v-neck cashmere sweater (opt for a feminine, pastel color) tucked into your denim pencil skirt. Pointed-toe pumps in nude suede and a structured top-handle handbag. Pictured here: (NET-A-PORTER) Tibi Denim Midi Skirt and J. Crew Cashmere Sweater.

For a flirty look, opt for a fluted silhouette denim midi skirt, paired with a fitted sweatshirt in neutral colors. Pointed-toe pumps and a structured tote. Pictured here: (NET-A-PORTER) Michael Kors Fluted Denim Skirt and Phillip Lim Sweatshirt.

A patchwork denim midi skirt with a frayed hem is a statement on it's own, so keep it simple on top with a tucked-in gray t-shirt. Accessorize with a cross body bag in pale rose or peach. Pictured here: (NET-A-PORTER) Saint Laurent Patchwork Denim Midi Skirt and Rag & Bone T-shirt.
